    I’m an Industrial Design major with a concentration in furniture and this is something I have been trying to actively incorporate in my projects. My professor is very old fashioned and loves raw materials and while I like them as well, I really try to incorporate 3D printing within my designs. Thanks for the video!

    I remember a university student coming up with an automated way of dividing up a large model into pieces with connection points that are all printable. This might not be the same thing, but it's very similar and quite clever. I think this is totally cool, even though I'm the kind of guy who would buy a bunch of power tools to build a table out of 2x4 lumber. Except the table saw. I can't fit that anywhere.

    I do love the general idea of this though personally as someone who's in favour of open standards, I kind of see this project going a similar way to how several commercially gated grid storage systems have been waylaid by the open equivelants, in that example Voidstar Labs' open Gridfinity system. I do hope this goes in the direction of ensuring open compatibility with individual creator's works without locking down the details too much, as that'd be unfortunate. Still, its great to see concepts like this take off in any regard, cheers for sharing.

    @karbon4542 Жыл бұрын

    It looks like it's been designed very thoroughly, and I almost want to back it on that basis alone, but I'm just not getting the point of it. A typical gaming table has a recessed surface so that you can 1) lean against the sides without bumping anything, and 2) put a top over it so that the game doesn't need to be packed up to use it as a normal table. This offers neither of those, and even worse is that either you have this 3D printed tray table that needs to be lifted and put on the floor or something to use the table again, or you have to pack not only the game but the whole tray table away. As well as it's been designed, for a large-ish table it looks like it'd probably take 15-20 mins to put together or pack up, and again I don't get why I'd bother rather than just use the table as is. And this is before I've even gotten into the hundreds of hours of printing plus hundreds of dollars of filament to make it. I wish them success, and it looks like they've already got it, but I'm yet to be convinced. Having said that, if it turns out well, and people show videos of how wrong I am, then maybe I'll pick it up post-kickstarter.

    Gonna be honest, as cool as this looks and as well designed it seems to be, I can't see myself using this. It looks really lightweight and easy to knock into and jostle around. Tables need to be sturdy and solid, especially if you have tons of little pieces carefully positioned on it. Seems like it could benefit from some sort of clamping or weighting system to prevent that. It definitely is a very useful project if space is tight or you are in need of a portable tabletop, and are willing to make that compromise.

    The first Q at Shark Tank is, what's proprietary here? The KS page mentioned Patent Pending but there are a thousand ways to interlock any two things. I reviewed the KS comments and the only mention of patent was users not selling parts they modify, which is fair. I'm not saying this won't succeed as a KS, only that once it's out the door it's time to sell out as quick as possible because the wolves are on the trail and they will overtake and eat you.

    I don't really get it. What's the point of this play surface over a regular table? The point of most gaming tables is that the play surface is recessed so a game session can be paused and the table return to use as a plain table. It's not clear how building one of these creates a better gaming experience.

    depends on your situation, it might not be for you. for me, I have two tables, one is slick glass and the other is rough wood with gaps. neither is good for gaming. this can sit over top of eather. also instead of recessed, it looks like I can pick this entire play surface up and move it someplace else (on top of the guestroom bed) then move it back for next week's play session. nothing is for everyone, but I can see how this will work very well for me. and on vacations? it's portable. who knows what the placing I'm staying will have, with this I bring my own gaming surface.

    Looks cool, but imagine setting a game of something like Nemesis. You will need to print a lot of parts cause the game takes a lot of space table. So now you have to spend about 30 minutes putting the table together, so that you can then spend another 30 minutes or so setting up the game components. Might as well get a cheap foldable table at walmart.

    Hi Jessy. I am buying my first 3d printer. I have narrowed it down to the Elegoo Neptune Max or the Bambu Lab P1P. Do you have a recommendation between the two?

    wonder how much would it cost to print one of those tables. it seems unnecessary to print legs and a flat bed but the accessories are quite interesting.

    Hey Jesse! I back this as well but I don't have a fdm printer, do you think this could be resin printed?

    Darn, I missed the KS. Did they mention if they are doing an pre-order from their website or something since people who missed it can't pledge?

    Interesting idea but why a Kickstarter? Design the thing and sell the STLs.

    I would assume to not waste a ton of design time if no one is interested in it. If you design just the core files maybe there is a decent amount of people that buy. Also tends to be a fairly good marketing strategy for small / startup companies. But maybe you can ask on the ks & see why they did it.

    The reason for the KSer campaign is to help fund project completion. While several components are complete, several pieces still need fine tuning (that isnt the final version of the frame for example) and more development work. Some of the stretch goals are just kicking off development as well. Thanks for the question.

    Money wise, it doesn't make any sense because if its 5.5 kg or the 4.4kg version of the table it still costs about 100$+ which means you could just go buy a cheap table at Walmart or something. Nothing less it looks very cool thou.

    How can they have stretch goals for 3D cad files, which are already drawn? Seems odd someone would run a kicstarter campaign for already completed CAD files? Why not My mini factory it, or cults3D?
