3D Printed CNC Lathe Conversion

Ғылым және технология

It's been minute... I haven't touched this project in quite awhile and I'm finally back on it. Thanks to social distancing, I've been able to make a lot of progress on it and I'm ready to share! Let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy!

Thank you for sharing your build! You basically cleared up 90% of my internal dialogue. I was given a Delta 46-460 to convert. The most machine experience I have is a 3D printer I've had since November 2019.

Also possible to use 3d printer part permanently, the idea is 'Reinforced 3d printer part'. Print part as a shell, just print it hollow with one cap side open, then fill the hollow with fiber and epoxy resin, The fiber can be fiberglass woven or sophisticated black carbon if you want, nylon webbing strap also good n cheap. Since it have very high tensile strength so do your reinforced part..

Nice project! Looking forward to more. The music was a little loud compared to your voice though, but other than that, great video!

I switched over to the kbic-240d a few years ago. Works way better with the original motor! but I still haven't gotten it to work for reversing without killing power first.

Audrino board I think can do the job but not sure about the drivers for those huge stepper motors might need an additional driver

The 3d parts are for fitment right? Your going to machine or cast the final parts yea?

Yes! I've got a CNC mill that I plan to use to machine everything. The 3D printed parts are just for fitment and to make sure everything works, fits, and make sure there isn't anything (design wise) that I missed.

@@bgwmachine had to ask, near the end ypu kind of suggested light cuts and if it breaks replace it. Don't want to see hard work hurt itself or you if it fails

I bet it would work as is! I'd be interested in trying out your files and doing a conversion myself!
