    Next time you use linear rails, dont remove the small black plastic rail from the carriages, this is to stop the ball bearings from falling out, when you want to add the carrage to the final rail, just slide the black ones off directly next to the rail so the bearings dont have an opportunity to come loose

  • @BrianBrocken

    @BrianBrocken

    3 жыл бұрын

    That’s exactly what i did 😜👍 the tape around the bearing is to keep the black plastic rail inside

    what materials have you been able to cut using it as cnc ? do you need to bolt them down to the floor for hard materials like wood or alluminum ?

  • @argargreg9503
    @argargreg95033 жыл бұрын

    Kudos for the commitment. What materials are you planning to cut with it? It will definitely not cut correctly aluminium, and even in wood it looks like it's going to take days to cut anything of that volume in 5 axes (3 axes would not been able to, except simple pyramids or so)? Fun project though.

  • @BrianBrocken

    This is part 1 where i build and test the XYZ axis. Part 2 will probably about the 3D-print functionality of the machine and part 3 about the 5-axis part. The goal is to mill foam molds with the 5 axis machine.

    @@brianware8818 I didn't get to the 5-axis part yet. I'm currently working on a few other projects. Also when i first started this project Fusion 360 was still free for 5-axis machining. They now charge more then 2000 euro per year for the plugin. So I'm not sure what the future of this project will hold.

    Nice project. Subscribed! I plan to build it too. What worries me most is drilling in aluminum. For me I always struggle with that part. Maybe you could a video to teach us how to get good at aluminum drilling and making threads into aluminium?

  • @BrianBrocken

    @BrianBrocken

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks man, drilling the holes isn’t actually that hard. I used the 3D-printed parts as templates for the holes and this worked great. For some parts I printed the drawings 1:1 scale and used these as templates to create punctures in the aluminium as a guide for the drill. The project didn’t need any threading 😜👍 one advice i would give you is to always keep your drill sharp, if you do this it should cut through aluminium like butter 😉👍

    Ja idd, wou er origineel een 5-asser van maken voor wat vormen in foam te frezen, maar toen werd de plug-in in fusion betalend en is het project eig stilgevallen. Ga hem mss nog gebruiken om te printen, kan ook zijn dat ik de materialen ga recyclen om een large scale delta printer van te maken.
