Looking forward to the box. I've made some flatwork before, boxes for the granddaughters, but always had a problem with hinges for the very thin "boards" that I used. Keep up the great work, and I really enjoy the newspaper!

Martin, thanks for all the inspiration. I scorched an ash coffee mug. As you Englanders like to say it turned out a treat. Just tried a bottle stopper scorched and gilted with tourquise cream. It looked really cool!! Thanks again for the inspiration!!

Thank you Martin for another great upload. The bowl is another stunner. The combination of your turning skills and your artistic flair go very well together. In recent days I've used Hampshire Sheen several times and it delivers just the degree of polish I like. A while ago I went through a phase of using exotic and expensive woods. I've since learned that there is as much pleasure to be gained by the use of native woods such as ash, sycamore etc with the right approach. The secretary of the wood turning club to which Brendan (Baconsoda) I both belong recently issued the league table of competition winners this year to date. Brendan is currently sitting at the top with 18 points while I feature near the bottom with just 2 points:-(. This Saturday we have Curt Theobold as our guest demonstrator who specialises in segmented turning. I look forward to perhaps welcoming you as demonstrator at our club some time in the future and if such a situation arises I guarantee you will be treated regally (after your demo). The inside grain of the bowl reminds me of a Trilobite.

It has the pattern of a trilobite fossil!

That turned out really nice. Is it the harder wood or the softer that turns black when you are scorching it?

Hi Martin, have you tried adding Gold, Copper, Bronze pigments to the Hampshire Sheen? The Hampshire Sheen looks stunning with the Gold rub on pigments! Thanks for sharing yet again another really interesting video, take care. Cheers Andy

Just catching up with some vids and I love this one mate! Quick question though, what are you using for the denatured alcohol in the spray bottle? I have been looking for something that is not Meths for months! I can get IPA and acetone without a problem but the DNA is eluding me. Must get to order some HS too, little bit loath to pay the postage for such a short distance though!

What is that you use for your maker’s mark?

Several times you talked about using thinned cellulose sealer. Would you mind giving the formula for this sealer. More important Great Piece

i've been toying with various things...rings & grooves done by friction wire and tile card...that sort of thing.....but I haven't had the nerve to try taking a torch to a piece yet....kinda intimidating really... Do you find much difference based on what species of wood you're working with? open-grain vs closed?

I lick the Gran wen you scorch it I never tried that I'm going to have to tray it

Hi your turnings seem to be very thick & with a large bottom , do you do turnings 10mm thick?? & your box has no flow, sorry for the bad comments & I have not seen all your work yet but will try & get round to it
