38 minutes of terror in Hawaii

Human error that triggered a false missile alert turned Hawaii upside down. People crawled under tables in cafes, were ushered into military hangars and huddled around televisions to watch the news for the latest developments.

If you think they can send that alert by pushing a button. I had more faith in people. This was real nothing fake about it. The Argentina sub that was “lost” shot the missile and we shot it down.

so I live in Hawaii, and when I woke up it had been at least 10 minutes since the alert came out. My mom was CLEANING THE HOUSE, my dad was making breakfast for us. I had mixed feelings like, I was sad cause I thought it was gonna be the last meal we ate cause we had no where to go and I was kinda laughing on the inside cause we literally thought we were gonna DIE and here’s my mom cleaning the house when it’s about to explode

Normally I would agree. In this case it is far more serious. If I were to say that it was an actual launch by the black op deep state nwo terrorists intended to start ww3 then I would be crazy right? If I were then to say that extraterrestrial probes have been disabling ballistic nuclear warheads for decades than I would be even crazier, right?... Maybe we should start at the top of the rabbit hole and simply ask why an automated emergency response system would need anyone to push a button at all? It is designed to be automatic so that makes no sense and outs anyone who believes it as a fool. Truth: Mythi.com.br

I drove paat because begging for a ride, running, cars on fire, people driving at 100+. Parents crying and holding their kids under freeway bypass.... it was so surreal. I kept thinking, any moment now im going to see a flash and 5 seconds later im going to be dead.

I experienced something like that except, I wasn't driving a car. I was in a restaurant and if there is a fire they will call the firefighters, and if they don't pick up they put a air raid siren on. When I heard it I thought a nuclear bomb was about to detonate. And instead of running I just stood there, shaking, and excepted my fate...later on I found out it was a fire alarm. Also: I live in New Zealand so yea...dont ask me where I live

I remember this day vividly. I live near a military training field here on Oahu and I remember waking up to my phone whaling about this Ballistic Missile Alert. I rushed out to see my dad outside watching the news and he woke up my mom to tell her about the missile alert. About 10 minutes later the nearby military training field started sounding the sirens and then I could hear the intercom from the field: "Military personnel, report to your stations. This is not a drill." From that point on I actually started to believe that it was real. I remember this day like yesterday. I have the screenshot and a few clips from that day. Truly one of the most bizzare experiences I ever had.

I was playing CoD WWII with friends. My friend, Matt, said someone’s phone is alarming, I checked my phone 8:08am HST, Emergency Alert. I told them, they didn’t believe me, they looked it up, then bid their farewells and asked what I’m going to do. I said, “Let’s play some Domination. Lol I was playing a mobile game on my phone. I told the people I was playing with and noone believed me, then one of them looked it up and confirmed I was telling the truth. After which, someone else said "should you even be playing this right now?" That scared me for a second.... then I remembered where I live and how much damage NK nukes can REALLY do. I thought about how stupid it would be for someone to launch a Nuke at Hawaii. It would do NOTHING to the U.S. and the only semi-densely populated city they could hit is Honolulu. After which they would be obliterated off of the map. I concluded that it was either false, would not hurt me directly, or that I could not do anything to stop it. Mostly I thought the first 2 and just felt it was too stupid to be true and just watched everyone freak out.

I was actually on an overnight feild trip on the USS Missouri in pearl harbor and hearing the entire naval basees sirens go off and the amber alerts all around me was one of the scariest things that ive ever been through. Aswell as not having a phone to call my parents on i didnt know if they were alright and i just needed to hear my mother and fathers voice. Their plan on the boat was to take us into the restricted area in the deepest part of the ship but we all sort of knew we were fucked because all the predictions led to them aiming for Pearl Harbor. I remember calling and calling my mom on a teachers phone and the phones not working because of being overloaded with calls. I remember having to be the one to drag my friends down into the boat because they just stood there not knowing what to do. 38 minutes.

What bunkers? Remember there was even an anti-shelter movement and a movement against emergency drills in the US in the 60s, as part of the "peace movement" and this was encouraged by the Soviet Union which claimed that the building of shelters in the US was an agressive act. Of course the Soviet Union built huge shelters anyway.

Emergency alert systems are by their nature low friction systems and designed to be no more than 1 phone call from activation. The bomb sirens and the messaging blast are likely right next to each other and dead simple to activate. Remember at most it's going to take a warhead 30 min from launch to detonation over a population center add the confirmation from the airforce then relay to state officials and that's stripped down to 15 to 20 min to find shelter. This happened a few time during the cold war too.

However, with another day behind me to think about this, this will actually get people on the island of Hawaii to start seriously considering this scenario. This is the same normalcy bias that hit us on 9/11. As far as the cell phone towers being so backed up you couldn't get a call through, that's why ham radio is so vital still today.

If you search up declassified files of US and Soviet Union ballistic missile projections the soviets literally had about 35-40 Pointed *DIRECTLY* at the White House I highly doubt any bunker could withstand that much energy same thing with population centers in movies it’s depicted that maybe 1 or 2 would go off but in reality and going back to declassified files from the Soviet Union the entire New York city area was gonna get sprayed with around 70-100 nukes........... it’s called mutually assured destruction for a reason *NO ONE SURVIVES*

I was getting up to start a normal day when all the sudden my mom looked at her phone and said oh my gosh! Tears filled her eyes as she rushed to her bathroom to call my Grandma in Michigan. Me, not knowing what the heck was going on , asked my dad whats wrong. He replied "look" as he showed me his phone. There was a message saying "WARNING: THERE IS A NORTH KOREAN MISSLE HEADING FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII! (big island) SEEK SHELTER NOW! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! My heart sank.. My dad and I sat down in the hallway. My Mom, still frantically panicking was still in the bathroom. I prayed hoping that this was simply a push of the wrong button. It was one of the only times in my entire life I was shaking with fear. I sat there thinking: is this what my life has come down to. I new that it was only gonna be a few minutes before that damn North Korean missle got here. 2 minutes till nuclear armageddon (I thought) , and the news anchor sayd: so sorry but this was a mishap. There is no missle. A sigh of relief came across the house.

This event really hammers home what we've unfortunately known for decades: there is no "procedure" for a ballistic missile response. There's nothing you can do. If you're in the range of the blast, it's over. Those 20 minutes of warning mean nothing. That's why nuclear disarmament and the prevention of nuclear proliferation is so important. Devastation can only be prevented by ensuring that a nuclear weapon is never used again.

If you own a home or land, invest in a bomb shelter. If you don't, then look up shelters nearby. Honestly, if you live in a big city there probably isn't a whole lot you can do. Even if you own a home in the suburbs and have a bomb shelter, the missile attack could happen during the day when you're at work. Imagine trying to get home when everyone in the city is running around in a panic. Someone will probably cause a car wreck and that will bring traffic out of the city to a stand still. There isn't a whole lot you can do. The governments in all major cities would need to heavily invest in bomb shelters for a massive population and that would be a huge financial undertaking, so it's unlikely to happen. I think the best you could hope for is to go into the sewer or subway and hope it doesn't collapse on you.

Lmao I was in a destiny raid when it happened me and another guy got the alert on our phones. We sat there for the next thirty minutes wondering what it would be like if there was an afterlife. It still haunts me to this day, how calm I was… how ready I was to accept death.

This was probably a real missile lunch. And it was probably intercepted or disabled somehow at the last minute. Someone just attacked the USA. You'll never know what truly happened though.

+Shaddai Graphics shut up... you swear big powerful arrogant America wouldn't be telling the whole world so n so attacked them and they intercepted their obsolete missile with our future tech missiles LOL you know for damn sure our missiles cannot intercept a nuke attack lmao cause they wouldnt just launch one dumbass there is zero sense behind launching one single nuke at America its suicide for them ovbiously they will launch all of them. so if 55% chance our missiles hit their targets in flight well of they launch 500 of them 250 are going to hit anyways lmao

Shaddai Graphics lol if it was intercepted at the last minute people would've seen an explosion up in the air and air force and navy would've bombed NK immedietly. We have a carrier near the korean penninsula.

Because it's the most likely target for NK after Guam, perhaps blended with resistance to the current administration

North Korea just wants the ability to defend itself, they are probably the most hated country in the world, and they are against countries that do have nuclear weapons. its not a surprise that they would want it too. how many years have gone by with the media trying to scare people about north korea lol, if it was gonna happen, it would of happened.
