West Coast Railways Class 37 locomotive 37516 "Loch Laiden" thrashes south along west coast main line and through Springs Branch south of Wigan on the evening of Tuesday 11th June 2024.
The class 37 was working the return leg of "The Dalesman" railtour from Carlisle back to Chester down the WCML. The train was steam hauled from Hellifield to Carnforth via Carlisle with 34067 Tangmere.
We get here singing the inonic song of the class 37 having dropped off more passengers at Wigan running 2 early here around 6pm. WCR class 47 Locomotive 47746 was at the rear which would lead the empties back to Carnforth.
