Skated on and off for 20 years. At the age of 34 I set out to learn this trick. Took me 2 summers of steady focus to learn. Nearly destroyed my body in the process (kept landing awkwardly and having really dirty slams) but I eventually got a clean one on film and now can hang my skateboard up with no regrets

Bro bro!!! You’ve helped me more than anyone on KZread! Scooping forward is what I’ve been missing. I almost thought I was doomed to never Tre-flip! Now I just gotta focus on getting my back knee bent to land it on there! Thank you!!!!

Honestly you have the best trick teaching videos I’ve ever seen and I love how your building up confidence in it. Dude I thought a kick flip was a heel flip in 5 th grade then I realized how wrong I was doing it and once I did my first kick flip the right way, landed every time

Connor this is Hans from ASU. I don't know if you remember me. I left after my sophomore year in 2012. I got sober and back into skating in 2016 and this trick haunted me even in my middle school years and this was really helpful. i have the 270 flip tendency and I'm able to get more of a full 360 out of my scoop.I hope you're doing well. If we ever cross paths again i hope we can catch a session together.

Great video! My next trick war is this one but it’s being a real pain right now so I’ve tried 5 days now and no matter how hard I scoop all I get are varial flip or almost double varial no 360 shuv part in sight I can maybe form the Tre 3/4 and land with my back foot but when I try to practice with my front foot it’s back to varial flips only no matter how hard I scoop it’s so weird .
@ConnorMcSkaten

Thanks for watching! I wonder for trying to catch with your front foot if you’re just catching it too fast. Try flipping slower and keeping your foot out of the way!
I feel so funny watching this😂 I have been skating about 24 years and never had a good regular tre flip and never actually cared. I have switch and nollie tre and have a ton of other tricks, mostly grinds but regular tre on flat has never been my trick. Hopefully this video will help me out😂

Honestly just keep practicing them! If you have the power, it all comes down to perfecting it and repetition is the best way to do that.
i always land with my body too forward on the nose of the board. I know that i need to lean back, but i cant seem to solve the issue. Ive only landed it once with a bit of toe drag but that was a while ago.
@ConnorMcSkaten
Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think that is exactly how most people land them at first. It really takes a lot of practice to get your body comfortable with the motion. But keep practicing and really focusing on leaning back and pushing the board forward and one day it will all click!
Opening my shoulders like that makes my right foot open up too and I land with it on the ground, heel side.
@ConnorMcSkaten
Жыл бұрын
Is your right foot your front foot? If that’s the case try opening them a little less. It doesn’t need to be too extreme just enough keep your momentum moving forward! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

connor, look into Intact laces or lifetime laces. ill always have a pair of either on my shoes from here on out. thank me later. also as someone that dedicated weeks on weeks of only trying to relearn this trick after a decade hiatus, and now riding looser trucks.. heres a note. If you have looose trucks youll have to place your backfoot closer to the tail. and if they are super tight, then you can just put it in the pocket. This trick is easiest with super tight trucks but, heres a quick tip if they are medium to loose. make sure when your tail contacts the ground it should be contacting the ground under your heelside wheel, any sooner and it wont work, but anything at heelside wheel or even later is better.
@ConnorMcSkaten
Жыл бұрын
For sure I’ve loosened my truck as well and you definitely have to kind of relearn the trick. Tight truck’s definitely help! Also appreciate the tip on the laces I’ll have to check those out!

@@ConnorMcSkaten the laces are a no brainer. One less thing to worry about when you skate. And it’s 2023 it was about time someone did something about ripped laces. Also, I just got back after decade hiatus. I had super tight trucks then. Now medium. So I had to relearn these. And now they are 10x better than the ones I used to have.

Interesting tip about the trucks vs tail contact! Im loose trucks and my tres just dont fully flip, usually 180to270 flip rotation. Could you clarify, is the tail supposed to be snapping on the ground right under the board edge where your toes are curled over the tail (so the toes drive that toe side pocket edge smacking first), or snapping the ground more back under the heel side of the tail as though your toe is more pulling it in the natural flip rotation direction?
@ConnorMcSkaten
Жыл бұрын
@@simonwolfe4324 I hope i'm understanding the question and answering properly. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. The tail should be popping right off of where your toes are holding on. This will initiate the pop and rotation of the board. But I think like you said, just with the rotation, the position of the tail may already be in motion so the position of the tail during the snap may be more where your heel initially was. Hope that wasn't too confusing 😅 But so much of this trick is figuring out what works best for you. one day you'll feel like everything works and you just need to remember that feeling!
@igetitlitsoicansit2950
Жыл бұрын
@@simonwolfe4324 more back under the heel side of the tail. If the tail makes contact any sooner than the heel side wheel it will 270. Also make sure your not leaning on your toes too much. Since now your popping a little bit later since it’s now popping at the heel side. You’re gonna have to jump just a bit later too. Make sure you jump straight up and not infront too much of your toes.
Sup. Dood. I like.

The open shoulder is the worst advice you could give to anyone on this. Have you ever seen anyone try to learn this trick? They always land with their front foot on the floor next to the board… because of the open shoulder 🤦🏻♂️
