I used multiple Dremel attachments in different grits. That got me to a pretty clean look but then I used Simichrome (highly recommend for anything metal polishing) and that gave me a mirror finish. I didn't go as far as trying to get the manufacturers pitting out (just kind of the wavy aluminum texture not actual pitting) but it's definitely a mirror finish. Took me about 4 hours total. Not enough material taken off to cut the aluminum but enough to make it look good. I worried more about the inside of the plenum when I had it all stripped out. I was working on fixing one of the plenum bolts, actually 3, that someone stripped. Used a thread repair kit with the inserts and that worked excellent. I was pretty worried drilling out my block 🤣 but it turned out better than expected. Not sure if it even helped performance but I know it was done to my standards.

I have seen some using a Dremel with a wire brush to clean, then a polishing brush to polish it out?
