I was there with my family. Fantastic show. However... Giants Live = sold out arena show, fantastic production and atmosphere; WSM = 100 spectators in a carpark in 100° temperatures. What's up with that?

I was wondering the same thing. 🤷🏻 It’s literally like they fetishized making it into a bad show years ago and now it’s part of the schtick. Poor crowds, too hot (often), don’t do live streams, and stupid stone-off that every competitor hates.

I used to think it was some scheme to laundry money, nowadays, I'm just perplexed. Everyone else manages to produce a good show and WSM still stuck in a car park in Botswana? It makes no sense!

I think the hot temperatures/ unfavorable conditions are chosen in an attempt to make the competition seem more extreme/ ratings. Now that its seen as an official sport and not some goofy contest they should make conditions much better. Also improve judging and event planning.

Axle bar is much higher off the floor than a standard olympic bar and regulation weight discs. I know the bar is wider which requires greater grip strength. But, in my opinion, the hardest part of a heavy deadlift is usually getting it off the floor and hinging the hips. Doing so is a lot easier when the bar is higher.

@M. W. no it isnt in this case. Giants Live has their axle bar from a slight deficit. Pavlo Is just that freakishly strong

you mean the giant from iceland, the former worlds strongest man, the man who JUST got back into training for strongman seriously and is currently ramping up his gear, the man who previously deadlifted 501kg? i really wonder why he is better at deadlift than those guys, just can't quite figure it out.

@@DennisGr because he is I believe 6'9 and has the body proportions of a shorter person. Thus he has a ton of muscle on his body and much more then many other competitors. His diet, training and commitment is also crazy.

Exactly. Overall brute strength has gone down in strongman and it's more about being an athlete now.
