@@dontnewyorkmyflorida of course. Tell me the fair market value for a used 302 Ford engine compared to a GM small block V8. The difference in price will tell you something, that I already know. The 302 will cost you more now in todays dollars. Why? Because they are a scarce commodity. Why are they a scarce commodity? Because by and large the small block chevy outlasts the Ford product. It is more universal, better castings, etc. There are more small block chevy engines available because they are of better quality and last longer, that is why they are cheaper, because they are more available, not because gm made more engines than ford. Now, give me a comeback to those facts Fordboy.

@@ben91069GM stuck the gen 1 small block in absolutely anything they could, which is evidenced by the fact that the engine was available in at least one GM model for 49 years. Small block chevys can be found for pocket change, mainly because GM produced millions and millions of them.

@@ben91069 *_Why are they a scarce commodity?_* Because they seldom break down so there's not extras to spare? The fact that the Chevy 350 SBC is in plentiful supply for a cheap price tells me two things: 1. Apparently they are shit, because you don't end up with a truckload of junk long blocks if the engine is reliable. 2. Their commonality makes them cheap.

It’s more the fact it’s OG. Like finding a Indian head penny from the 1800s. Yeah it’s worn out but it’s still cool knowing it’s actually as real as it gets these modern days. Over some 3D printed replica. Or any replica at all. It’s like finding a Model T and throwing it off the cliff because the interior is rotted. We’re just wasteful af. We’ll throw away a completely functional iPhone because the charger port stopped working. Not even realizing you just stick a paper clip in there and pull out the pocket dust and it works again.

Id salvage the still working parts on the destroyed engine and put it on the new one. That's a boat anchor

Didn't relieze thst there were people who are still unaware of the fact that a dying chevy small block is better than a ford engine that is newly rebuilt. The chevy small block is the easiest and most affordable engines that has ever been created For the same amount of money. You.can build a small block 350 and a ford 302. And the chevy small block will deliver more hp. More torque. And be a much more reliable engine. Overall it is just a better design. And easier to create crazy amount of hp. On a incredibly strong frame. American muscle IS chevy small blocks

But now ford has the best knew truck engine with the 6.7 it is by far the best engine in the dodge 3500 or the chevy 3500 the f350 is better than those trucks

It will be on marketplace after 3 cans of chevy engine orange paint and a tube of blue rtv around the valve covers timing chain cover and oil pan. Advertised as brand new super high compression small block with a full list of all the greatest internals and it only has 30 minutes run time and that was on the dyno where it made just under 2,000 hp naturally aspirated with a holley quadrajet that has never been rebuilt but it makes that power from that 3/4 race cam and a 26:1 compression ratio. No it is not seized its just too much compression to turn over.😂😂😂😂 6k no lowballs.

I use to have a junk yard. We would take engines like that and put them in clunkers and race on the hay field. Jug of irontite in the rad, topped off with water. Straight 30 for oil and run the sack off of them. Most of the time they took it better then a good engine. We even heat siezed a 350 after blowing a head gasket. Following weekend it started. Chucked some gaskets in it and it out ran the rest of the 78 chevy it was in. Good times. Miss those days sometimes lol.
