34 Much shorter rehab times now versus 50 years ago, Dangerous.

Back in my day, 50 years ago, the time spent in the initial rehabilitation period for a newly injured person with a spinal cord injury was much longer than typically provided today. Back in 1968 I was hospitalized for my rehabilitation for a little bit over five months. Today, it is very common for people to be discharged after less than two months of inpatient rehabilitation. This results in people being discharged from rehabilitation while they are still completely unprepared to manage their lives and their disabilities. Many people today end up with serious health issues shortly after discharge due to the insufficient time given them to learn about their disability and daily requirements to maintain health.
