My first thought, but you call your super bowl wrestlemania🤦‍♂️, The grandest show of them all, wwe has gone so far from traditional wrestling, it's unrecognisable, it's more akin to a super hero universe for kids, a knock off marvel, if your not portraying it as sport what is it then?

You also forgot "hospital". WWE Superstars don't go to the "hospital". They go to a "local medical facility".

Championship Contender's and Non-Title pair makes no sense. A Contender's match makes an obligation for challenger to challenge for title if he/she/the team wins. On the other hand, Non-Title imposes no obligation.

"Wrestling" wasn't banned for its lack of appeal. It was banned for revenue. Vince discussed in an interview that if you label yourself a sport like "wrestling", then you need to be sanctioned and are not allowed to fix the ending. Some states aren't as strict on the rules, but some taken it very seriously. Thats why he calls it "Sports Entertainment" and his performers are "Superstars" and not "athletes." This allows him to put on shows in any state AND gives him major tax breaks. These were Vince McMahons comments.

Calling Belts "Championship" drives me f'n nuts. The Belt represents the title you hold as champion. It's very simple. It's like the MITB briefcase is representing the title shot you have guaranteed as the holder of the briefcase. WWE doesn't even let their wrestlers breathe or blink.

The reason WWE "Superstars" are not allowed to use the term wrestler or wrestling is because Vince would be employing athletes instead of actors and running a sport instead of a TV show. The fact he does not have to list the WWE as a professional sport prevents him from having to pay a very heavy tax to run the WWE. This can also explain why Vince was generally ok with rebranding to WWE from WWF in light of the fiasco with the World Wildlife Federation.

That's why Vince very quickly abandoned it with the advent of the progressive era. Rusev was probably the last time this was used and even then it was uncomfortable. Who gives a fuck about Prestige? ?There is nothing prestigious about standing in the middle of a crowd wearing hardly more than leather underwear and body oil while shoving your opponents head into your crotch or vice versa, or grabbing his ass in order to execute a maneuver. Besides, if every "Independent Contractor" is called a Superstar regardless of position on the roster (main eventer, mid "roster"er, and enhancement talent), then there really isn't anything prestigious about being one.

The "sports entertainment" and "superstar" are commonly known to be tax avoidance. Wrestling is taxes heavier than standard entertainment shows in NY and NJ so Vince changed the game, also why the company known as "New York" is in Connecticut, to avoid taxes.

Well, this video didn't age well. McIntyre blew this one out the water last night!

Here's WWE's 10 biggest problems. It's weird to say they have a problem when it's a billion dollar company but I digress. Bottom line up front: WWE answers to too many masters! 1) Investors: Because this is a publicly traded company, they have to please the investors by hitting quarterly earnings. No matter what, you'd better hit those numbers. 2) Sponsors: They also have to keep the sponsors (advertisers) happy by keeping the product "pg" so they can market to kids. True wrestling fans hate watching a "pg" product. That means limited cursing, no blood and jus an overall diminished product. 3) BOD: You can't upset the board of directors with a terrible product or a personal scandal. 4) Network #1: They need to keep ratings high for the USA Network if they want that giant check every few years. 5) Network #2: They have to keep the ratings high on Smackdown for Fox in order to get that big check every few years. 6) Peacock: They are contractually obligated to give Peacock a minimum of 15 premium live events each year. They don't have to be good events but hey pal, you're a content creator and you'd better give us a product 15 times a year. This is why you'll get a 12 minute match on Peacock and then get the same exact match the next night on Raw for 2 minutes or 30 seconds on Smackdown. 7) Saudi Arabia: They are contractually obligated to give Saudi Arabia 2 shows a year in order to keep getting that money. Who cares that they violate civil rights on a daily basis, just keep getting their blood money. Also, the Saudi government is not willing to accept just any old run of the mill, phone it in show, they've demanded that each show be on the level of a Wrestlemania or a SummerSlam. This is why the trot out Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, HHH, the Undertaker, Kane, Brock Lesnar, every few months. They haven't built new stars to be able to headline a show like this so they call on the legends twice a year to satisfy the Saudi government. You're not going to advertise Lacey Evans to headline a Saudi show are you? 8) The wrestlers: These performers want to tell stories and make art with their craft but Vince wants them to ONLY do things his way, the WWE way if you will. No, you can't cut your own promo, we'll write it for you. You can't style your hair the way you want, we've decided how it should be. You can't work a certain style in the ring if you're over a certain height, leave the flippy stuff to the small people. You're getting too "over" with the fans, you're supposed to be a heel (ask Wade Barrett about his "Bad News" gimmick). We have to change your name so we can get money off of it. Real wrestlers get tired of that and leave in order to gain more creative control. 9) Vince McMahon. Face it he's getting old and his ideas are as well. He killed off NXT black and gold and gave us 2.0 which has been a ratings disaster. You can't just throw random nobodies on tv and expect us to tune in and watch because it has "WWE" in the title. Also, he has a terrible idea that no segment goes on tv until a replay of "how we got here" is shown. That's literally done for every segment, every week, on every show to include the premium live events. If you cut a promo last week, we'll show the wwe universe what you said before we get to this week's action. It's a boring, tired and a downright insulting way to run the product. As if we can't remember what the hell happened from week to week. 10) Fans: They have to please the wwe universe. They are last on my list because they are last on WWE's list. Vince has made WWE into a brand and he thinks that no matter how crappy the product is, the people will tune in to see what WWE is doing and not what individual wrestlers are doing. He did this by giving us 50/50 booking to diminish the value of the superstar (except for a few stars like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and a small few others). He never lets one star get too big because nothing can be more popular that the company itself. Then Vince gets upset when fans won't cheer for his baby face or won't boo his heels. The fans have been reduced to nothing more than people he uses to make his TV product look like it's successful by "packing the arenas". The truth is that the product is garbage and fans are tuning out in droves because we don't feel heard as the consumers of their product.

It's absurd that with all the successful TV-14 and MA shows out there that WWE has to remain PG to keep sponsors happy. TV-14 isn't even the raunchy, ultraviolent rating it's made out to be. A typical prime time sitcom is TV-14 and they're not controversial or scaring away investors and sponsors.

ALSO, his theme music Kingdom by Downstait also included the "Wrestling Has More Than One Royal Family" opening. Yes yes, Neither WWE nor AEW own the right to that theme but it still mentions *WRESTLING* in it.

Calling them WWE superstars is still so dumb..I have a friend that isn't into wrestling and I asked him oh they call them WWE superstars, he said okay but they still wrestle right? That's fine and they've been doing that since the 80s, but there was a time when all these other terms were completely acceptable and the language of on-air personalities wasn't being micromanaged. One minute they'd be calling it professional wrestling, the next they say it's sports entertainment, and that was fine because both terms are accurate.
