emotions cant be controlled, theyre just information your body is giving you. it’s like saying you are struggling to control what you see and hear. yeah, you can walk somewhere else to experience different things, but you cant change the way a particular object itself looks. similarly, you cant change what makes you feel frustrated. you can instead notice the sensation and thank it for the info it’s giving you. (so-called “anger issues” are typically a sign of ego being affected, which usually means not feeling respected. this could mean a particular action someone is taking makes you feel disrespected, or, more commonly, you aren’t respecting yourself as a valuable person whose thoughts and emotions matter.) im saying this from experience- I genuinely believed i had “anger issues” the first 16-17 years of my life before i started accepting the emotion and gently asking it what info it had to give me. now that i know what things make me feel angry (people disrespecting my perspective, abuse, sensory overload aka not respecting my own reasonable limits, anti-lgbtq+ sentiment directed at me, etc) i plan ahead and accept the things that *are* out of my control. it’s no longer a major, constant issue. i wish you all the best!!!💛💛💛
