Most fans agree with you. The problem is, the NFL came up with a definition of "catch" and neither one of those plays qualified. The problem is the rule -- it is too nit-picky.

You have to survive the ground. It's not a catch. Neither was that Dez Bryant catch that everyone talks about. Dez never had true control of that ball.
1:42 honestly, even though it didn't count, it was still an awesome and actually smart play by that lineman. The play was on 3rd down, so after the desperation throw by Tua, that was really the best outcome, considering it gave the Dolphins an extra down. If the ball just falls or is caught with no score, it's 4th down. Hunt making that catch AND getting a TD forced the Ravens to accept that penalty and give them another chance. Of course, Dolphins didn't capitalize on it, but still.

What’s crazy about 12:30 is if dez’s fingers didn’t touch out of bounds, Cowboys would’ve eventually made the playoffs instead of the (at the time) Redskins, Cowboys could’ve rest their starters on the final week meaning Romo wouldn’t have gotten injured that game (weather if they did anything in the playoffs is debatable) The Redskins would have missed the playoffs instead which means RGIII would’ve never injured his knee again too Edit: Romo actually didn’t get hurt that game, my mistake😅 Dez did end up injuring his foot in that game tho

That moss to Favre throw was so legendary, it was like their first play together too lmao. My family was going crazy 😄
31:57 Going into this video I had a certain Dez Bryant catch in mind....and they made me wait until the very end, haha nicely done. True football diehards will always say that the Calvin and that last Dez catch were legitimate catches, and I personally feel the Dez catch is one of the greatest of all time. (I'm a Steelers fan btw) why you ask? If you really look at it, he completes the catch AS HE SURVIVES THE GROUND...in other words, he gained control of it the more it played out, that's why it's bogus to say he didn't maintain control. He gradually got control of it throughout the whole crazy process, he didn't grab it and then start losing control of it. You have to really look at it closely. It's at least one of the coolest looking catches. A lot of Antonio Brown, Dez and DeAndre Hopkins throughout this video
Brandon Lloyd low key made some of the greatest catches I’ve ever seen in my life and I’ve been watching football for 47 years

I was at that broncos colts game 10 rows off the goalpost that Elam whanged an extra point off of. You couldn’t see the north side of the field for the last half of the game. My feet were bricks of ice by the end of the game and I got to high five The Barrellman.
I love how the Steelers and Lions catches touching the ground are here. Even the NFL couldn't get their rules right. It was explained to be early on that the rules are different if in contact with a defender. Both of these wouldn't be catches if a defender was taking the player to the ground at the time. But this seemed to get applied to all catches and not just in contact. Without that contact from a defender, the offensive player has to do less to establish a full catch. Maintaining control and making a move that then causes the ground to jar the ball loose is always a catch.

Жыл бұрын
@@stephenh5944 it does when you are in contact with a defender. You have to complete the catch which means gaining and maintaining possession. If you are being taken to the ground, you must maintain possession through that process. No contact from the defender lessens the requirements for a catch.

1:40 the greatest touch down never made. He saved a possible interception because him and the intended receiver/ the RB ran into each other and Tua threw the ball where the RB was supposed to be so good save but he was supposed down the ball. The play isn't dead until he's down so a fumble can be recovered by the defense who can decline the penalty. That run and stretch for the touch down was because he originally was a tight end so he was running on pure reflex after he caught the ball

@@pangobara8182 that's not how an illegal touch by an ineligible receiver works. The fact that he put the ball across the line before he fumbled meant the play was dead. He use to be a tight end so if any lineman was capable of saving us from a possible interception you couldn't have hand picked a better one. So much was lost on that play. It would've been Gronk's last target since he retired after the '18 season. Brady woulda been stuck at 5 rings and possibly retires, passes the torch to Mahomes. Chiefs become the Pats dynasty slayers after Seahawks failed 4 years earlier. Now, today, in 2022 reality, Brady & Gronk have rings on BOTH sides of Mahomes one. Last count -Brady 7 Mahomes 1 instead of 5 to 2. All this is now true NFL history. All because of Dee Ford was offsides on a play he didn't matter!!! Actually, it wasn't a mistake. The rule for a "catch" the NFL came up with is the receiver must maintain control of the ball after falling to the ground. I think it's a stupid rule. Most fans would agree. But according to the rule, it wasn't a catch. And as much as you (and I) hate it, the refs did not make a mistake.
