In the original, everyone in Petalburg called Hooktail "He." But now on the remake everyone knows that she's a girl. So now they say "She." Also whenever Mario gets an email, the yoshi rescued theme from Super Mario World plays very fast that it's just a little jingle now.

That jingle is based on the SMW title theme actually, also it only plays when mario gets emails from peach. The SMB3 Ice World theme also makes a cameo as an email jingle during chapter 3.

I liked the fact that all the koopas thought hooktail male and that we only learned otherwise when fighting her sister

In the redone Hooktail battle the audience no longer screams when she eats the Toads. And the same goes for the other 3 audience-using bosses as well. Also, Koops father was said to have been eaten while he was distracted by Hooktail’s feet. During the first Peach interlude, you no longer need to have her take a shower to progress (though you can still do so for fun) Walking around in her cell eventually causes the door to open. Also TEC’s “camera color” has been changed to red instead of blue, to better fit the Japanese version. And his camera flashes as he speaks. During the first Bowser interlude, interacting with the third statue sadly doesn’t cause the item jingle anymore. And Bowser calls Kammy a lunkhead instead of airhead. If you go into Koops’s house at any point after the chapter 1 farewell, you’ll see the picture of his father has been replaced with one of him and Koops together. The song for The Thousand year door now gains instruments each time you return with a Crystal Star, with all acquired partners shown witnessing the next one being marked on the map AND the door itself having a star symbol filled in when Mario shows it the corresponding Crystal Star. Finally the order of stars on the door has been changed from starting with the lower left and going up and down to lower right, To starting with the lower left and going diagonal across ascending, ending with the topmost star symbol.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the cap on coins collected is 999 in the GameCube original. The coin rewards in battles for the remake seems more generous, and the cap is clearly higher. I had over 2000 coins after completing the Pit of 100 trials.

Idk if it's been said but you also don't lose coins for running away from battles. Which is a massive plus during the twilight chapter.

@@MasturPayton The only battle I ran from in that chapter was for [NAME REDACTED], the guy who stole your identity. Which you don't lose coins from fleeing anyway. (I'm talking about the GC original; I have not managed to obtain the remake yet due to budget issues.)

@@MasturPayton right, I forgot about that change from running. But that’s a clear difference. I didn’t really see the point in the point that you would lose coins in the original. It was only a few, and easy to get back if you just fight another battle or 2.

I vaguely remember having over 1000 coins in the Gamecube one. I could be misremembering. But you are right about one thing. The payout for battles is WAY higher in the Switch version.

Cool thing I've found is that in general, if you attempt to superguard an unsuperguardable attack, it will let you know it was done correctly, but the text will spin away as you take the damage anyway.

In the rouge port sewers the music sounds more orchestral as you get closer to the floor that has the thousand year door. The theme when you are in front of the thousand year door adds instruments for each crystal star.

In the original game, hooktail offered you 1,000 coins. In the remake, it’s 10,000 coins

I think it’s because in the original the max number of coins you can have is 999, but in the remake it’s 9,999

You know how Mario’s hammer now interacts with other characters? Bowser’s fire breath also interacts with characters too!

- Ominous dragon sounds will play when you’re entering Hooktail’s Castle from the backdrop. I’m fairly sure these were absent in the original - In one of the quiz questions, Thwomp asks you the price of a Fire Flower instead of a Mr. Softener - The speed of Koopa Troopas and Paratroopas feel slower; the first Paratroopa you encounter in the opening corridor of the castle is much easier to avoid for instance

the badge shop sells a badge for one coin that changes the music to that of the ofiginal, every area now has a unique rendition of the battle music instead of it always being the same, they added blocks next to the sun and moon stones containing useful items for the mandatory fuzzy fights, they added the new character battle toad who shows up in every town and will let you practice combat, all tutorial rooms are now in 3D, every item abbreviated as shroom now uses the full word mushroom

In chapter 2 in the woods the floor colors were mostly just blue and purple in the original but in the remake it's more of a rainbow color and more vibrate and a better design.

Well done! The effort and passion are evident.

Here's some differences I noticed 1.) Badges Dropped from enemies won't despawn And 2.) Badges you refrain from picking up from defeated enemies will immediately be put into the stock at Ms Mowz's House of Lovely Badges Shop.

Regarding the change at 4:27, it feels a little bit awkward to slip through the bars. In the original, it was a bit more straightforward as there was hardly any resistance to slip through.

After Ms Mowz uses Love Slap, she now faces the enemy the whole time while walking backwards back next to Mario instead of facing Mario in the original

At 4:11 , I appreciate the new change for its creativity however it has messed me up multiple times now where I’ll run from an enemy but get into battle anyway due to being stuck in that animation. I used to use that to get away so many times

I just beat chapter 5, and that boss fight was very hard

I am in chapter 7 and talked to the "Fire Emblem" kid when I was looking for the general. The kid stayed something about, he is playing "Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door" at the moment, and he is hoping for a Luigi Sequel. I am playing the game in german, so I don't know if this is in the English translation. Maybe this is a teaser?

I'm surprised you haven't noticed this, but I believe you are not punished for running away. In the original, you lose coins, but in the remake, you don't lose anything.

The keys, you didn't mention the keys. In the original they were all 1 colour, in the rake there's a red, blue, yellow, and green key.

In the original, the Three Shadows were called the Three Shadow Sirens, but in the remake they're just the Three Shadows.

Another detail is that when someone in the audience is about to throw a rock or a soda can at you, they would screamed like a little girl when you hit them with your hammer. Now when you hit them, they don’t do that little girl scream anymore and run away quietly. I miss that since it always made me laugh 😢

They have their actual voices instead of generic crowd noises. You can even hear Luigi cheering "Yahooo!". I was like "I heard Luigi!"

Did you just never get to the Gloomtail fight? Yes, in the original English version at least Hooktail was referred to as a he by the Petalburg citizens and Goombella's tattle log also reflected this. That was until you made it to Gloomtail who revealed Hooktail was actually his younger sister after which the tattle log changed to reflect this new information.
