300k Mile NSX Refresh: New (to us) Bumper Cover! (looong overdue) NSXPO 2023 Prep!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We tackle a LOOONG overdue cosmetic "fix" on our 317,000 mile NSX in preparation for NSXPO 2023! We swap out our war-crime of a bumper cover for a much nicer-looking piece so we can not be quite so much of an eye-sore in the concourse this year, lol. We also took a second to swap out our NSX's stock tailpipe for a slightly rowdier unit!

So far it seems to be a nice sweet-spot with a decent level of noise with the windows down, but without overwhelming the induction noise or getting raspy. I'll be curious how the packing stands up to track use over the next few years, as that's why my older ARK tailpipe eventually got retired, it just had no more muffling left at some point.

Lol, I think Liz picked up two of those (one for each of our actual Corgis) for like $5 each at Target. They're supposed to be for kids and have a spot to sit on the back. I'd offer you one, but both need some minor surgery after being aggressively played-with. The one you see ended up in the garage after serving as a critter stand-in during our headlight experiment a few years ago.

I had something similar on my NSX and I had more than one person (non-nsx owners) say I shouldn't paint it because it shows a used supercar which is a rarity. I get that sentiment, but it's what my eye went to whenever I approached the car from the front. Are you going to PPF the new bumper at all?

Yeah, there was a line somewhere between the "patina of usage" and just being janky and at some point we'd run past that line without looking, lol. The plan right now is to do NSXPO, then probably get the paint corrected as much as possible and then PPF at least the bumper for now. In fairness the hood and headlight buckets may not be worth PPF without also doing a repaint. I know some people though so we'll see.
