300 vs Forefront
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Why are these boots so different? Although they look nearly identical at first glance, a close look into our 300 and Forefront models reveals that they are fundamentally distinct-from weight of leather, stitching process, to bottoming. What remains the same, is the quality of build, as they are each handmade in the same workshop in our eastern Washington headquarters (USA).

The F-150 & F-350 analogy was really helpful!

lot of people think they need an F350, but all they really need is is a Subaru Outback.
Any chance we might see a moc toe from JK? I’d love a similar boot to the 300, but with that classic moc toe look!

Wondering if you will be making a video on the Harvester boot? Thank you for the quality, explanatory videos.
Man thanks for another great video and explaining the difference I need a pair of these soon mann
Thank you for the information! It makes the decision easier!
I just bought a pair of 300 by the end of this video. You couldn't have said it better. Keep in the three hundred for the weekend and go on with the forefront during the week.
Just put my order in for the Forefront . Love the videos totally transparent. That says a lot in my book. ❤ Talk about a good business model. Also good customer service. Can you imagine if all businesses was as upfront with there product. Looking forward to getting my boots. It’s that more special when your proud of the company that has lived integrity. Thanks JK stay awesome.

Any comments/regrets/suggestions now that you’ve had them for a while? I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a pair, but I’ve never spent that much on boots before, and I’ve never had a pair of boots last me longer than a year, so I’m trying my best to make a well educated decision. They seem very reliable if properly cared for, but it would be great to hear from someone that has had them for a while.

@@LeadByExample2911 so here is my impressions ,,, are they comfortable ? They are comfortable but that has a caveat they are comfortable in the way a boot feels comfortable. I wear them a lot , a lot from work to working on my car , work at a hospital so lots of standing. Took the foot insert out feels better I use darn tough socks. Thicker socks seems to work better. Break in for me weeks probably six weeks . Reason thick leather, that’s not a bad thing putting some effort for the greater longevity don’t regret. Also applied there furnished oil to help. Use iron lace for lace for the Boot laces. Hold tight stay in place. Leather looks cool but the iron lace more comfortable. Tried the tongue guard for me more comfortable without . I have one regret I should have gotten the 8” instead of the 6” I have skinny ankles would make the boot more comfortable , more ankle support. So most I have ever spent also. I don’t regret would do it again yes . So when they break in and they will with perseverance they have a satisfaction feeling of sturdiness comfortable and longevity. Not like other cheaper options where a year from now they have degraded now more uncomfortable eventually to the point need new ones. The uptake is say 4 years from now the JK Forefront boots improve with age due to the quality of the material that’s molding to the shape of your foot. By living with these Boots I understand why people describe as an investment. Hope this helps 😎

Man I was just looking at the smooth bison forefront. What a good looking boot.
Bought a pair of 300X's as an everyday wear boot; they are noticeably lighter and you can easily push the toe of the boot with a thumb. Upon leaving a review and an email regarding wear on the tongue, Nathaniel gave me some good pointers and suggested a Forefront as a next boot (I'm accustomed to gusseted tongues and boot pulls). I also wanted a boot that was recraftable and made in the U.S. so these fit the bill nicely.

Update: I was getting some heel slip and the sock liner in my right boot started peeling back; fine donning but will pull back when doffing; their insole solved the heel slip and sock liner issue. The leather is slightly wrinkled/"pruny", even after three applications of Obanhauf's boot oil (their supplied and preferred conditioner). Looked at doing a custom Forefront in either brown or bison with brass hardware and a black Christy sole; the only thing that rubs me the wrong way is the $100 "set up fee", but JK offers a $100 discount if you kick out the build time to 26 weeks (similar to Nick's but without the fee/discount.
Looking forward to getting a pair

Will the foam in the 300’s last like the leather mid sole in the forefronts?
If I work on concrete floors most of the day, and want a pair of Forefronts in Redwood. However, memory foam insole like Copper fit work have some built in arch support. Is the Forefront built in a fashion that allows for installation of a memory foam insole, and not have too much arch support added?
I just snagged some Bison forefronts. They have a BF sale going on and I personally can't believe how absolutely amazing the price is for an amazing pair of boots. Im hoping JK reaches out soon as I'd like to confirm the size is what I need. They claim to call, at some point, after you order which is top notch service if you ask me.

I am gonna buy a pair, sand down the outsole so my local cobbler can glue on a flat slip resistant vibram outsole. I want to wear this for my restaurant job :P the original outsole will provide cushion and now act like a midsole. This looks like a great pair of boots.

What is the weight difference between the two?
I'm confused about the stitching on the 300. Is the sole glued to the boot or is there a proper stitching? I'm looking at the 300 the lighter weight seems more ideal for hot weather

How's the Arch support on the Forefront compared to the Super Duty?
Man I like your materials and ideals. But I can't get over the thru sole frenzied stitching. Is there a reason why this looks so rushed and haphazard ?
Any idea when will you guys make a moc toe?
hi. do you sell your boots in the UK? also, how wide are the lasts you are using? I've got a wide foot and I do get problems with most work and leisure boots. have you though about using the nato/mondopoint sizing (lenght and width of the foot in mm)? also, when you are talking about the ounces of weight of leather- do you mean the weight of the already made upper or the weight of the square meter/foot (?) of the raw material, before the cut?
@pianofry1138
10 ай бұрын
I think you can get a boot to accommodate your width in the foot. Im not certain of how comfortable it'd be for you without knowing your feet, but they offer multiple widths. For leather weighing 5oz, 8oz, 9oz, ect its per area, I think. It's kind of like leather thickness but not exactly. I believe 8oz is like 3.2mm and 5oz is like 2.2mm or something like that but dont quote me. The boot itself probably weighs about 2ish pounds a boot or about a kilo.
got any 300's waxed roughout leather?
The Forefront would be exactly the boot I'm looking for if it had a full gusset tongue
It’d be nice if JK introduces Chelsea style of forefront.
id like a moc toe and bison in a 300 ! thoughts?
Are you going to make a chelsea version of 300?

Same. Check out the Bison Leather. They are also having a Black Friday sale of 10% I think off of the actual boots. Not like Whites or Nicks which will at best do the sale on the accessories only. JK is killing it with these faster shipping same northwest amazing style and build. The owner of this shop, to me, is far better story and life than any of the others. However, Franks is an equal par as far im concerned. Nicks is getting to big, so to wait a year is absolutely ridiculous to me. Also have a good chance of them (forgetting) to do something you wanted done, knowing full well you waited a 8 months so ur going to accept it. Whites is and has been, way to big for far too long. I personally wouldn't down if they have the capital to have some machines doing the majority of the work. JK's owner is an immigrants (like all of us, i believe 1st gen). He worked in this trade all his life and did so in anither country, so he has experience and different techniques than the rest. This is, I believe, his kid. Excellent guy. Look at his love for the materials and his Dad and his business. I just love family businesses and will always support them. I love in an area that no one, has ever seen boots like I'm about to have. They are going to flip when they see them. Im from the cuty but work in a ace that all come from farming and coal miner families, n they are going to go nuts when they see them. I can't wear whatever shoes I want at work, so I can only wesr them to training and when im not at work. Id bet my life I wind up getting JK a min of 20 guys buying a pair. That Bison leather is so special and rugged and just raw looking. I can't believe they found a good supplier of that skin and its a display of their company and their abilities for sure. I can't say enough good things about this company. I heard about them from a ytuber Anvil something or nother. My brother in law got a pair already and they absolutely epic. Even if you only west them to lowes and show people how great ur decision making skills of boots are, you will impress all that love boots.
So what I'm hearing is that the 300 is for boss man and the forefront is for the workers/laborers
I love these. Wouldn't the stitching through the sole easily be worn through walking on concrete or really any rough hard surface? I feel like that stitching is the only thing I don't trust

On the Vibram Christy soles, are they the same hardness all the way through? I work at an airport, and guarantee the tread will be gone in a month. A lot of outsoles are only hard on the outside, but once the tread is gone they have a super super soft and useless center...Tarmac is like sandpaper.

Seems like the 300 is where it's at for a hunting or hiking boot. I'll always recommend 2 sets of boots to allow dry time after work. 2 different models of boot also make your foot work differently stabilizing differnt ankle muscles.
