$300 vs $3,000 complete “Blackout” Everyday Carry

Whatever our needs, when creating our Everyday Carry kits, finding the perfect balance between utility and budget is key, and in this video, I compare a $300 vs $3,000 COMPLETE EDC kit, both following the same theme: an all-black / Blackout Edition.

================================
An all-black EDC, whether you're strict on matte-black everything in your blackout everyday carry, or like a blend of shiny and matte, is super sleek looking. I guess an all-black Everyday Carry kit is so popular because it can be both elegant, or badass, and just goes with everything.
In this video, I break down two COMPLETE everyday carries, 2 full EDC kits that are comprised entirely of black items. An everyday carry to ME consists of a slim wallet, pocket knife / edc knife, edc flashlight, a key organization solution, a notebook (I literally use my notebook more than I use my phone), and a pen (I'm partial to fountain pens). But what constitutes a full EDC to you might be completely different. That's the beauty of our own everyday carries - they're fully custom and based on our own needs.
A cheap edc kit doesn't necessarily mean it's bad - if it works for you, it's awesome. Similarly, an expensive everyday carry kit doesn't mean it's good. Items that are so expensive you're too scared to use them defeat the whole purpose of an EDC kit. I'd love to know: what are YOUR favorite everyday carry things? Lemme know in the comments!

    Absolutely love your videos, Maurice! The amount of detail and editing that goes into each one is incredible! I think you should definitely continue to make these kinds of videos! I know it must take a tonne of work and time, but we all enjoy them. Please consider a "tactile" theme for your next video! EDC items which have a fidget factor built in (bolt-action pens, flipper knives, fidget toys, etc.) or simply have a tactile look and feel to them would be great! Another theme you could try would be a vintage one (natural tan leathers, wood grains, brass/copper, fountain pens, etc.). Keep it up!!!

    I think a better choice than the Kaweco ballpoint-which has a frankly pretty poor refill-is the rollerball, which you can replace with any Parker-style G2 refill, such as a Fisher space pen refill, which writes better and has a far longer life. The rollerball is capped, so won’t deploy in your pocket.

    If you want to pronounce the brand correctly you should call it (LEU) - Pick the "loy" from alloy (CHT) - English doesn't have a pronounciation about this but it's very close to "Ssttt" (TURM) - The word "Tour" with an "M" added to it. Make sure you speak the words seperately Loysst--Tourm.. And you got it 99% perfect! Thanks for your video's - I like them a LOT lately!

    I definitely am with you on the Swiss Army Knife. I've spent most of my adult life with either a Swiss Army Knife or a Leatherman in pocket or on my hip. For the Swiss Army, I tend to favor the Explorer (or the Explorer Plus, which I don't think they make anymore) and, for the Leatherman, I long carried a Wave, but have lately been carrying a Signal. Though, the Swiss Army knives I mentioned are definitely the easier options on the budget.

    11:07 Im German.... so yeah np 😅. I would actually recommand to pronounce it as (anglicized) "Loy-sturm" (almost like "storm" but with a u). So a quick swap of the u and r makes it closer to what it would sound like.

    May have gone with a trayvex wallet for the expensive wallet. They're more versatile and for most of them you adjust the wallet it's stupid to the number of cards you need to carry

    The orient black ray ii (FAA02003B9) is another good budget watch alternativ. Also a dive watch with a black case and an even more minimalist design. Cost is usually between $200 and 300.

    if you really want to go all-black in an automatic watch and don't mind microbrands, then the Safari Vogelkop Superb by Boldr might fit the bill. current version has a Seiko movement alongside all the standard features of a good edc automatic. and at ~400$ it's also on the more budget-side when it comes to watches. only major drawback is the crystal, with the anti-reflective coating on the sapphire being prone to scratches (can be polished out, but it'll be equivalent a normal reflective sapphire crystal then)

    Good point! I also think the Hamilton watch is not fitting the bill of ''every-day carry'' or ''blackout'', many would hesitate to do sporty things with it and it also would look odd in more formal and/or low-profile instances. Hamilton is a brand with robust watches, but the Valjoux chrono is not going to be robust in comparison with watches in its price-class (obviously G shock is leagues above in robustness so I won't compare), instead getting a Longines Hydroconquest or Oris 65 in black dial and getting a black Nato strap would be much better in terms of the theme as well as saving you money.

    I love EDC videos and appreciate all these categories and the engineering of these small EDC items and have many myself but, and I'm not trying to throw shade or anything, but why are firearms never talked about? Or medical supplies. I feel like the most potentially important items are a knife/multi-tool, a firearm and a basic first aid kit, like really basic a tourniquet or two. Then everything else.

    6 months later and I just came into the comments to say the same thing. I got mine for £27. Still haven’t found a use for it - it’s too expensive for casual, throwaway notes and too small for important ones. It is pretty though 😂

    11:09 I did read it. No problem I’m German 😜 The “anglicised” version actually makes zero sense tbh. I’d say “Loykt (kt like the end of sucked) + turm (like perm but with a t) would be the easiest and still closest to German for english speakers without breaking their mind and tongues =)
