i feel like the escalator photo doesn’t point to the subjects, but still works. they are going towards a destination, and the length of the escalator emphasizes that and kinda tells a part of a story, imo.

Yeah I agree. Lead lines are a good tool but you can often get interesting images without using some/any composition tools

was thinking the same thing
This’ll be a good one. Sometimes I get discouraged with the amount of bad photos I get just to get one good one. But seeing others going through the same makes me feel a little better haha

Nah almost every person I know who goes out and shoot in this style has a similar experience! It’s worse for some landscape people honestly, they can shoot for an entire weekend and leave with nothing!

True story. If I get one good landscape photo per trip I'm happy. If it's great it's a perfect day. Going to Sacramento in a couple of days and going to try some street photography. 🐼✌️🧟♂️
When I get many bad photos in a row I'm so discouraged and feel bad because I'm realising that I'm not improving myself. This video has completely changed my mind because, as you said, too many bad photos can lead to an amazing photo. Thanks!

Efthimia I try to focus on failure as a result not as a statement on myself personally. I've learned more from trying and failing than succeeding. It's the going back to see what went wrong. ✌️🧟♂️
I actually really like that reflection photo with the carnival wheel
This felt like I was in an NFL film room breaking down last Sunday’s game. And I loved every second of it. Big shouts from Chattanooga 🤙🏾
I was so pissed watching this bc a lot of photos were amazing and u were like meh. I kinda get it but, that level of perfectionism would kill me.
Thanks, Eavn for being authentic and showing your photos that didn't make your cuts. I also liked your reasoning. The photo of the day was superb, great job!
Dude when are you coming to Chicago!?
That is exactly why I like photography. You don't know what you will get out of it. You go out, because you have to. It's what you do and know you have to do. Like you are pointing out, you go out and a small percentage of your captures are good, the rest is meh.. But you get the good ones, since you are consistent and loyal. I really enjoy your videos Evan, especially these. They are raw, genuine and resonate with me. They capture my interest. Thank you for these. It's so interesting, as a watcher (as well as a Photographer) to not know the outcome. But you have to get out, do the work.. and hopefully you get something nice from the session. It's part of the craft.
I really like your descriptions of composition and drawing on your pictures. Keep up the great work.
evan, you are easily my favorite underground (but not really) youtuber. the quality of your videos is amazing and i always feel like i learn something or gain a new perspective when i'm done watching one of your videos. thank you
There are a lot of great KZread videos but this type of video where u allow us the viewers to go with you on a photo walk....I cant describe how incredibly helpful it is for people like me just starting out in photography. Cos many times I go out with my camera and have no idea what to do, and I’m wondering “How do the pros do it?” Or I get discouraged cos I took 100 photos and I hate all of em. This is great dude. Really enjoyed it and most importantly learned something new.
Yeah, my kinda numbers. Just yesterday I drove 2 hours one way to get one image and hit a deer on the way home. Good image though.

Damn i hope you’re okay. Not fun...
The photos may not be 100% but the edits still rule af. You are just an incredibly symapthic and talented photographer. I appreciate your work! Thanks for feeling me a little better whenever i have 1 good to 300 bad photos.
Super encouraging to see someone's process be just as frustrating. That keeper shot is fantastic, I would have loved to see it before editing also!
the one you choose as the "good" is absolutely superb.
Its this simple, the very best photographers take bad photos all the time. You just dont see them, because know one wants to show there bad work. Never get discouraged, the more you practice, the less bad photos you will take and the more you will learn, about this wonderful creative passion we all have.
Love Evan at night. The scooter silhouette photo was so rad! Love seeing the whole process as usual. And HOLY the friggin key shot of the night blew me away. Also stoked that you're moving shop. I love seeing the evolution.

Thanks man! Always appreciate the support! I got a lot of great ideas for the future from this shoot so we’re probably gunna revisit that window location in a future video!
I personally love the variety of videos you create!
thnx for posting this video! I sometimes feel bad when I just don't see it or shoot many 'nah' photo's. It is just part of the game. Some days I come home and it is all bad and some days I have many good ones. It is always a suprise. At least it doesn't say you are a bad photographer when you take crappy shots. It means: you don't do the same thing over and over again, some things work and some just don't
Nice one bro, great that you share the shots that didn't work for you and your thoughts behind it. Super useful and something I may implement in my videos going forward. Glad you got some bangers by the end of the day!
Just what I was looking for. By including in this video the shots you don't like, I get to have the idea of what you're looking for. Very nice content sir.
It’s really encouraging to see a pro photographer goes through this just as anybody out there, especially the street photographers. I absolutely love some of the other pictures that you took that night and learned about compositions more from this video. Keep up the great work Evan!!
Fantastic video! Very comprehensive and inspiring. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make these.
Its amazing to see how even top photographers like you feel as though they didnt get enough good shots. Just goes to show how unpredictable and challenging street photography (and photography is general) is. Great video as always Evan! I really enjoy these photo vlogs (even though you dont call them that anymore)
I really needed to see this. It can be discouraging taking so many pictures and almost feeling like you're wasting your time. But just gotta keep pushing through and let the magic happen.
high key, the studio video was one of my favorites bc it shows your progression over the years. Hella inspiring for me
That blade runner shot is awesome! I struggle with the 28mm focal length but I'm a novice at best. Love your videos Evan!
DUDE! You got some really rad locations going on there, you just spend to little time to fix and compose them.
I really like the Dodge Challenger car park photo. Looking forward to seeing your future shots. Would be great to catch one car entering as one exits, long exposure for the light trails too
This is definitely one of my favorite videos of yours. Love the process and definitely at least 4 bangers.
Ayyy!! That car coming out of the garage was by the America’s mart 😍 I love watching an Atlanta photographer so I can recognize some of the locations 😂😂
I shoot mostly landscapes and nature (Cities make me depressed, lol), but I can appreciate great street photography when I see it. That shot looks amazing!
i shoot downtown Atlanta a lot, but i've been finding ways to force myself to get better pictures during the day. The golden hour and night time is so much interesting.
Thanks for this great video! I appreciate your describing details of the pros and cons of each image.
Man, I learn so many things every time I watch one of your videos, and the amount of inspiration is just amazing. Thanks for your hard work man, I appreciate it.
That cover photo (the one posted on Instagram) is so freaking dope!!! A little different from your norm, and I love it. World class. 5 stars.
Great video, thanks Evan.
Great video. It's encouraging to know that even bad photos can lead to at least one good one. You had great examples and showed why the photos weren't working.
Great final shot! Definitely some other shots throughout the night that were awesome as well but I respect your creative process!
So good man! Your videos are the perfect blend of technical and creative and I always ge to the end thinking “Im going out shooting asap”. Thanks a million Evan.
Hi Evan, I love the way you do your videos, I love that you share your thought process behind the photos. You are very inspiring. Thank you.
I'm new to your channel and new to photography. I loved this video and I loved hearing your thought process as you're going out on a shoot. I would definitely love to see more of this kind of video!
The one on the subway escalator with the 2 guys was cool
I liked your last video. Dont worry about the views man. Subscribed since you had 12k and watch all your videos. Love your work keep it up.
Great vid! Enjoyed this one a lot
Love the video. I enjoy your bts videos when you go out . Would love to see your editing process of bringing out the colors for this photo.
Haven’t watched in a while... catching up on all the videos I’ve missed. You’re so talented my man. Keep grinding.
I find that with a 28mm lens, you need to move around and pick your compositions more carefully than with any other focal length. With an ultra-wide, you can capture a wider angle than the human eye which always looks stunning. With 50mm and longer, you can easily isolate your subject simply by blurring the background. 28mm is right in the middle, and in my opinion the most challenging focal length.
That keeper shot was crazy good. Makes the entire trip worth it. Good work as always!
Why is Atlanta so empty? It looks like a ghost city.
This composition talks are sick. Thanks for this man. Cheers!
Thank you for making this video. I always thought that I was alone getting hundreds of bad photos before finally getting a good one. Encourages me to keep shooting. Thanks.
wooonderful behind the scenes. I really enjoyed the amount of explanation you gave for the photos (both the ones you like and don't like)!
Enjoyable vid - thanks, Evan. Good to see I'm not the only photographer who has many more "misses" than "hits"😋
Love your videos. You just got a new subscriber. I really love the new studio. 😊
A lot of the photos where you felt they weren’t working looked like cool places to bring a model and do an actual shoot with. So these, to me, become like reference photos for future shoots 👍🏾👍🏾
Excellent video! Really appreciate that you shared the camera settings on that awesome image. I’m still trying to get comfortable with finding the right ISO/shutter speed at night. Amazing final image for handheld!!
I love seeing the process. Very real. Would love to see the behind the scenes also include the editing. That would be even real-er!
I think I saw this video promoted by fstoppers. Maybe you'll get to do one of their photo rating videos. Keep up the good work.
Very in depth video love it!!
Last couple days in a row I went out and got nothing but trash. Always worth pushing through though. That Peachtree Center photo was sick though 🙌
Love your videos it inspires me a lot. Thanks you
Yeeeeaaasssss!!!!! P.s. I definitely dig the studio vid. Can't wait to see the new one.

Very cool to see your process!
I love the photo you made at 8:44. You said that you spent some time on the edit and i would have liked to have seen a side by side of the raw and edited photo. I know this wasn't a post-processing video but just seeing the before and after helps.
You always gets me motivated 💪💪💪
Iove your work. Keep it up.. seems like theres never anybody out in Atlanta. If u want action, subjects and composition, u should visit NYC. U won't regret it
Great video. Do more of these. Would like to see the before shot on the keeper.
You a beast. Keep grinding 💪🏼
I definitely love the new studio!

Very reassuring that Even the pros make bad photos, thanks for showing the process mate 🙏🏼
I've never tried street photography but I really enjoyed this.
Great video as always! Have you ever thought about putting up the raw picture before you show us the finished project so you can show us your process of what you envisioned?
I think you had a number of really great images. I agree that you may just need a 35 or 50mm because I feel like that maybe the way you compose, which obviously would be bad news for the Leica Qp since it is a 28mm fixed lens. I have an M9 that I shoot 28 and a Fuji xpro2 I shoot at 35mm focal length using the 23mm f2 Lens. I find street is a bit easier with the 35mm the 28mm does require a bit more planning for sure. Also don’t be to proud to use photoshop and remove distracting elements almost everyone does it these days to create a clean look. Excellent video by the way I enjoyed it
Wow :) I really love the $$ shot hahah it pulled me in, great video!
My man ALWAYS setting my screen on fire 🔥
love this type of video
Another great video. I love our city. Lol didn’t know about the lights at Peachtree Center. What lens did you use? A lot of those photos you said weren’t good, were fire!
you rock as always! congrats from italy
Great upload as always bud!

Absolutely love these videos, it’s always helpful to remind myself that it’s normal to just get crappy shots over and over again and only come home with a few decent shots. Photographers typically only post their good photos obviously, but it’s always nice to see other photographers also go through a similar process getting those images!

No need to never start with photography. He's to perfectionistic, kinda like a sick obsessed Chef. Don't let these video take you down on a idea to start something beautiful. Eitherway, maybe your City/Town is more interesting than Atlanta.
Please do an editing tutorial with the pic with the pink light and the pool !
DOPE!
The only guy who is more comfortable shooting low light more than day light
love this kind of video from you . i got one question how do you manage to write over the picture and which tools do you use?
That shot you went with is dope, but i honestly thought that bnw on the train station escalator was a banger too but thats just me lol
I live in Atlanta and I’ve been wanting to do street photography but I can never find a good place to start. And your videos are really helpful. But being a woman and going out along is dangerous. So I never find the courage to go out and shoot
That Hawkins sweater though
I love the Leica also, but are you struggling to get used to that 28mm? Would love to see a behind the scenes with both the Leica (28mm) and fuji x100f (35mm) for same shots. Only so many hands, I know, but you’re definitely picking the shots imo, also agree on negative space. Maybe 35mm will reel it in a bit?
would like to see the "straight outta cam" picture from the top shot of the night...

Hell yea
that was great, i wanna know how you actually did the edit of the video itself whether you create a script then edit the video clips and image to your commentary or the other way around?
You are the best.
