One thing to note is that you can maintain one of these cars for significantly cheaper by either doing the repair work yourself (DIY) or by finding a reasonably-priced independent shop to do the labor. There's a huge community around these cars, with a ton of tutorials/information available, so it's really an easy chassis to dive into, even if you're new to DIY auto repair.

You're absolutely right about that. From my understanding, the current owner does most of their own work for this exact reason

I have never heard that, my impression was always that these and Mercedes although mechanically simple, very expensive to work on. I wanted to buy a 300 turbo diesel but was talked out of it due to age and inevitable maintenance cost associated with age. Went with a Toyota instead.
Man that car looks good in motion, damn!

It sure does!
Another great review. Mom had a 325 from that era, and the front seats had to be redone within a few years. When the a/c conked out, the repair cost made her drop it as quickly as she could.

Fascinating. I wonder why the seats in BMWs of that era are so fragile. Makes you really appreciate any examples you see with nice interiors
A Beautifully put together video for a very well built vehicle. More then greatful to have a manual 528e myself.

Awesome, thank you! I'm on that page too. Been trying to scout cars for future vids on there, but I haven't found any from AZ yet.

Thanks m8. Made it me self
I love the color. Blue on blue is my favorite. Owned an 87 325 coupe that my parents bought off of a friend for my first car.

Not a bad first car! Better than most. I also like blue on blue. It's very "of-the-era"

Man this makes me want to buy this car!😂 if it’s for sale please let me know. I am looking for a USDM e28 528e and I want to import it to Germany. I just love the US bumpers and this car is mint.

It's not my car, and I don't believe it's for sale, but I never thought I'd hear anyone say they actually like the US bumpers on a European car!
Were the idle control unit replacements in response to the idle surging issue? I’ve replaced my O2 sensor and will be doing the ICU next.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. The owner didn't tell me why it was replaced or for what reason

Hello! I had a surging idle issue. I ended up replacing the idle control unit and idle control valve. The idle control valve has been discontinued and difficult to find. I ended up getting a refurbished one on eBay (still not cheap). For good measure, I’m going to do the o2 sensor next.
Where can i get that dash mat? Looks like it may be leather or vinyl?

Sorry, can't help you there. It's not my car
Does the steering feel remain the same?

I can't attest to that. It's not my car
What!!! no cooling system repairs? hmmmmm at MTBF of 60,000 it might have been done 4x so far. Low compression eta engines didn't work very hard.
