30-Year Old Honda Prelude 2.2 Fan Car Makes it Up Genting/ VTEC Kicks in Again Yo!/ YS Khong Driving

Hey guys and girls, here's a little bit of nostalgia - we drove a 30-year old Honda Prelude up the mountain, courtesy of its proud owner, Max Teoh who kindly let me have a go with it.
For a 30-year old car, it is pretty good, and actually drives much better than a 30 year old E30, for example.
Well, I had fun, and so we put up this video to share the joy with all of our viewers, and since it is a manual, we also put in a foot cam.
Please enjoy the video and let us have your comments below.

So nice to see Uncle Khong giving this classic some love! Mine is 1991... first production run chassis 😃 I'm restoring mine at the moment... unfortunately it's auto 😅. But with Auto... still can push VTEC to open 😄 Still not confident to take up genting yet as check engine light comes on and off... still can't identify why 🤣

I don't know if this car have 4ws but i bought mine without because my previous one when I was a youth was so unpredictable with the 4ws system. Anyway, thanks for the video. Good tips on how to drive a FWD car. Some people don't know the difference when they buy a new car that has a different drivetrain than what they are used to; and they end up getting into a messy situation when driving.

Depends what application of VTEC, different Honda engines have different versions of it. H22a, b16a, b18c has 2 cam profiles. High and low, it allows you to run a high cam profile for power while keeping low end drivability with the low cam profile. D15z1 has the economy VTEC-E which is just switching between 12 and 16 valves for economy.

@@firdauskamaruzaman6714 You need to do some reading. A VTEC engine will always be more powerful than the equivalent engine with no VTEC. A turbo engine has a lot more power potential than a VTEC engine, but a turbo is not necessary to make an engine more powerful. It's just alot easier and a more efficient way to increase the power of an engine hence why it is seen alot more now.

@@firdauskamaruzaman6714 yah that's variable valve timing, but VTEC in it's performance application is variable valve time and also lift. You need to look at the application it is being used, is it a Honda jazz or a Honda type R. There's a big difference in the way it's being used there, don't just look at your text book. Look at real world applications. Have you actually driven the different VTEC and seen how they work and what is the difference in fuel consumption, power and performance despite they have similar capacity. D16y4 vs b16b, f22a vs h22a. Don't tell me h22a and b16b is for economy lol.
