I´m not a musician, but my favorit is the 1k€ and the 550€ drum. I can clearly hear the difference, but I don´t prefer one over the other.

The $30 snare sounded shockingly good for the price. Best of the cheap ones. I think the Joey was my favorite, though. I'm a sucker for steel snares. #krimh

Completely agree - Joey was the best to my ears, but for $30, the cheapy was pretty good.

That was shockingly good at a $30 price point. The ddrum at $200 is probably my choice for cost vs output though.

But isn´t that like the thing here? What makes you suck?!? :D I suck for wooden snares, they have that "extra warmth" that I want. But since I´m a sucker for that, I totally grasp that other drummers are suckers for something else. And I do feel a little hungry for a thin steel piccolo. Then I check it out (again and again) and I realize that it is an old, normal Ludwig I want. Just tuned very stiff. Gaaaaahhhh, gimme a break! :D

IMHO 30$ snare wasn’t that great in jazz, but might have been best in the blast…
That $30 one really punched above its weight. I consistently liked it better than the two above it. The $60 sounded worst imo. If I could have any one of these for myself, I'd pick the $850 Pearls, but damn. Props to the cheap one.

Piccolo snares are soooo underrated, they have a ton of attack and minimal overtone due to their shallow shells, hints the punchy crack that they produce.
To me, the last 3 snares sound great. They all have a great amount of power and pop, which I look for in a snare.
Ddrum and the $30 snare sounded surprisingly good for the money. I really liked how tight and dry the ddrum sounded.

Yup, the Ddrum was my favorite for playing metal.
This is a really, really solid concept.
The $199 and $850 were my personal favorite, they both sounded very crisp
My favorites overall are the Ddrum and the Joey Jordison. They sound incredibly similar, but I think the Joey Jordison snare sounded the best for blast beats. Also, I'm very surprised at how good the $30 snare sounded, much better than expected.

Good heads and tuning can make cheap drums sound pretty good. I know because for years I played cabaret circuits in cover bands with a generic piccolo snare (that was probably made from recycled soup cans for all I know) that I snagged from The Friend's discount bin for $25. Nice pop, not too clang-y. Now if only he could've gone off the deep end and played snares from some more "boutique" brands. I got to gig for a week with a Brady snare (RIP Dave Herzer), and OMFG.

I own the Joey and a Mapex MPX 13“ which cost’s around 70€ (at least when I got it from Thomann), and those, with the same heads and same tuning sound ALMOST Identical.

@@BroadwayJoe99 I bought a no-name drum set for about $100, snare for around $80, then bought nice thick heads, tuned and deadened all the parts and when I brought them to some gigs and shared with other bands, they were surprised how good they sounded and asked me what kit is this. And it was funny that I never could answer, cause I had no clue :D

For me the best is ddrum $199. The worse is temu 60$ in my opinion
is it me or does the $30 snare sound pretty damn good.
Out of these the $850 would be my pick. Has the best overall sound and would fit the most varied playing I feel.
The Maple Gum was my favorite snare, all sounded quite good but from the Joey Jordison and up it was another level
The $850 Pearl sounded the best imo
@CapAnson12345

Yeah the sound of that one just pops out above all the others. But that $30.. not too shabby.
That Ddrum sounds awesome. Joey's drum is a close second I'd say. RIP Joey
It is amazing that the cheapest ones were not so far from the high ends once you replaced the drumheads. Pearl MMG and Joey's were my favorite, though.

A good drumhead does wonders to your kit
This really goes to show that you need to pick a snare not only based on your preference but also the style of music you're gonna play with it cause some snares sounded good for certain hits and drags but not as good for blast beats, at least to me. Awesome video!
I love the tone of the Joey signature snare , and the design / color is super cool

Honestly... I love Joey and even had this snare for the longest time... but I just don't care for the sound of steel drums.
I helped design the JJ snare and kit package (Black double kick based Export) when I worked for Pearl Music Europe. A good signature back catalogue snare to get is either the Tico (Bon Jovi) or the Ian Paice. They are SO, SO loud!!!! Love your channel and your playing. Keep on truckin' and drummin' fella!!!
You made all of them sound great, but I can't deny the expensive ones sound better 😭
Poplar is one of the most underrated woods in the drum world, but excellent for bright and warm tones, plus it’s really Poppy!
Bought joey's snare some weeks ago... one of the best snare ever
Once past the ddrum, I think they are all very close. The crack on the 8-fiddy Pearl might be my favorite.
Thanks for the video, this is something I was wanting to know. The ddrum has that machine gun pop, so I liked it the best

thank you so much for the support, Todd!!
I always think the key to a good sounding snare is not always the most expensive but how well you tune them, which brand and quality of skins you use and the acoustics in the room where the kit is placed. Also how you play is a big one too.
I really like the sound of $200 ddrum I think it's just because it has a more dampened/compressed sound which is what I tend to go for. That and the Joey snare sound extremely good imo.

It was amazing how not so far off they were from each other but I have to say I like the $150 snare the best overall. They all sounded good.

$150 had a great impactful sound
It was a pleasure to watch. You should make more comparisons like that, at least to me it builds an idea for a change of my current snare. I appreciate your hard work of tuning everything, hope you had some fun from that.
That maple gum one sounds soooo good.
The last 3 were fantastic. Moral of the story is you get what you pay for.
The $30 one was actually amazing!!! My favorite overall is Joey’s as it damn near perfect all around!! Awesome work and awesome video!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
The $150 snare is surprisingly good for its price wow!
toss between the 30 and 555. that 30 just felt honest, and the blast beat made me think of when your NES froze and was stuck on that kind of sound lol.
Can we all agree that this man has this drum template mixed to a T. Some of the most true tones from drums on KZread. Love it
Holy hell, listening back really loud in my car, the MMG sounds extraordinary! JJ is a pretty close second.
2 Pearls are the best. For me, can't beat the warmth of that wood.
The Pearl Masters snare was my fav for sure. It's wicked beautiful too!
That 850$ was insane. Reference was too smooth imo. Ddrum too tight. Great video once again! Thanks to you I started playing drums again and Im on heaven once again. Dont have money to buy good electric kit yet but Im gonna save money to Alesis Crimson Set. ❤
The Pearl maple/gum is definitely my favourite.
I was suprised with the cheap snare sound it sounded good, however my favorite would have to be Joeys
$555 and $850 imo for sure. Joey's Steel is such a good sound, and hard to beat.
ok, I'm literally 1:42 in and I'm thinking, this snare (the cheapest snare) sounds great lol I honestly cant get over how good that sounds
I absolutely love the DANYALL's Diaper change drum❤😂
The fact that while you're changing snare heads you are casually talking about therapy is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Thank you. I love your channel .
I will continue to Stan for DDrum as the most underrated drum company 👍

Sure bro and very good for its price
That first 3.5x13 snare was my favourite. Reminded me of the 3.5x14 pearl piccolo I once had.
I'm digging the ddrum. Anything black and red automatically wins for me but I also really liked how it sounded as well 🤟
Ever since I saw Matt using a lazy susan I knew I needed one. So much easier
The ferocity of the karate chop @0:58 was most impressive!!! There can be no doubt this man's hands are lethal weapons 🫱☠️
For me the "Masters" have the best sound although the first is a good surprise.
was NOT expecting the quality from the ddrum snare, would not think a electronics part brand would make such sick snares 🤘🤘🤘
The Joey Jordison snare sounds the greatest with those head combinations. This video was super fun to watch, Samus! RIP Joey, and RIP Joe Morello
The Joey snares are out there used for $400ish and are a must-have. The best Pearl sig model I’ve played.
The lesson here is that Samus can make any snare sound good….
I liked ddrum quite a lot. Tight and beautiful sound for one not so expensive snare drum. Nice video Samus. Greetings from Greece. Wish you a happy new year.
i personly loved the joey jordison snare
The last drum. Best ton and a nice sound whit attack.
I definitely think my favorite is the second to last one, I love those overtones too much
I liked the Ddrum and the jordison best. The cheap drums didn’t sound as bad as I would’ve thought they would. The head changes make a huge difference. You probably would’ve heard significant differences between them if left with stock heads obviously.
$850 snare for sure was the best. The cheapest one actually wasn't half bad
Really impressed by the Vox snare
Good to hear what a difference good heads and tuning can do, even the most cheapest one sounds good
I liked the ddrum snare strictly because of the trigger set up.but, I absolutely love the masters maple gum. Its just purrfect.
I still love the ddrum Hybrid as much as I did back when it got released. Love the snappy sound, and the internal trigger is a great feature for studio work. Really wish I could afford a kit.
For me, it's no doubt the Master for full sound and damn there is something about that Vox. Great job dude. respect!
I like the ddrum and the Jordison snare.
Joey snare all the way. So glad I got one years ago. And it was less than $100🤯
I'd edge it to the Pearl MMG, fun vid!
the 30$ snare was definetly a suprise! didnt sound bad at all
Michael Myers peeking out through your hair is fuckin killing me lol
Pearl masters maple ($850) by some margin imo. Have always loved that sound.
Amazed how good the cheap ones sounded. For me it'd be the DDrum though, sounded crisp.
Man, I love that Vox. I said the said the same thing when you did the video on the Telstar kit. It's just got such a great "bark" to it.
That JJ snare is just 🤌. The bite, the colour and attack are just freaking awesome!
The Pearl Signature one is fav by far
Thanks for going through all that for us. Lol awesome putting it all together in the end to get the real slight differences. Tuning was impeccable. 👌👌
Thank you for reviewing these wonderful guitars!
I have bought the JJ signature snare MK I back in 2010 and it still is my main snare to this day. It's such an amazing piece of gear and maybe in a couple years I will switch to a brass snare but this is the most consistent thing in my setup for good!

Joey was a revolutionary drummer, it's only fitting he left us with an iconic snare drum and sound.

thank you dude :) cheers!!
Love the sponsor. It's so important to raise awareness about mental health
Crazy how far good heads and good tuning (along with great playing) can go! Even the low end ones sound grrat
JJ Signature for sure. I've been using this beast for years now
I love the ddrum snare and happy you mentioned matt horn that dude knows his stuff drum stuff.
850 sounded the best imo for sure🎉
It’s crazy how many snare variations there are, and how they sound. I have a mapex snare drum, and it sounds amazing, but have heard a lot of snare drums that sound better with my drum kit, but sound not so good with other drumkits, and it’s the same with my snare that sounds better with some other kits better that the one I have. My favourite was probably the $1000, from the sound to the look. But that $30 sounded surprisingly good! Great video!
The $30 snare surprisingly sounded better than alot of the other snares. It sounded the best when blasting. The Ddrum snare sounded the worst with blasting. The Joey jordison snare always sounds good, even though they are going for double what they were originally sold for.
I liked the ddrum but in the side by side comparisons I really liked the $150, $555, and $1,000 for the overall sound for the 3 type of beats.
I loved the Ddrum & Joey's sound
its the $850 masters maple for me
Ddrum and Joey signature. Great video, keep it up!
The 3rd and last two sound the best imo
Suffice to say, I'm very happy that I own a Joey jordison signature snare 🥁
Pleasantly surprised. They all sound wildly similar to my ear. I think the reference snare is my fav but that Joey snare really sounds great.
I have to say the maple/gum is my favourite, followed by the maple/birch. One day I hope I can try to do this with all my snare drums!
I like the sound of the ddrum & the Joey Jordison snares - plus all the ones after th J.J. snare sound great to me.
I got a joey jordison snare for Christmas probably 10-12 years ago. I remeber it was about $300 back then. I dont really play much anymore but i will never get rid of that snare, always loved the way it sounded.
I really liked the ddrum snare.
Reference then masters for me. I had a 14x8 FF snare in the original reference spec. What a beast. And surprisingly versatile.
I used to own the Ddrum hybrid kit many years ago and man, that snare is still my favorite snare I've ever played on. This convinced me to go look for one online! Haha
This is a great video for any aspiring drummers, To hear back to back different snares. I closed my eyes for the last comparisons to see if I could hear a difference and I defiantly could, Most sounded fine and quite similar but the ones that stood out (in the not great way) were the 2 AFTER the $30 snare and the $1000.
My favorite was the ddrum snare. It gave more an attack yet thumped sound
