Hey yogis, many of you requested a yin yoga sequence for lower back pain that you can do when you're shorter on time! Here are my favorite yin yoga asanas to relieve tension and discomfort in your lower back.
Yin yoga is a great way to alleviate low back pain as long as it is done mindfully. Low back pain varies from person to person so while some poses may work for me, you might find that they don't work for you! Please adjust the sequence however you need to.
Personally I find that opening my hip flexors and doing some simple twists is the best way to reduce lower back pain. I hope you enjoy this 30 minute yin yoga class! Have 2 blocks close by.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Use as many props as needed in Yin Yoga! Blocks, bolsters and straps are all great ways to support your body to make sure you are respecting your edge and not going too far.

Been suffering with lower back pain over a week now and I did this session yesterday morning. I felt amazing after it. Woke up this morning and was able to get out of bed pain free for the first time since it started. God bless you Kassandra..I love your energy and thank you so much 💜🙏🏼

Tractioning the low back bent over while grasping the elbows is a totally unsupported position for the abdominals and can be petrifying to attempt to do for someone with adhesions, old disc issues, SI joint restrictions, QL imbalances. In other words there are hundreds of other choices to safely lengthen without out triggering fear or possibly causing another injury with an unsupported spine in this position. Choose another, please! Namaste🙏

I had a day of moving a lot of heavy stuff yesterday and my back and SI joints were NOT happy. This absolutely saved my back! It felt so decompressed and the stretching part of it took the pull of my hip and SI joints. Absolutely wonderful and would do it again when my hips/back/SI are strained. Thank you!
Dear Kassandra, this video came to me today (05.08.2021) after a week of intense pain in my sciatica which made me ask me for a few days at work because it was very annoying for me to work with that discomfort there. So THANK YOU SO MUCH!

This has helped my lower back pain immensely! It’s amazing how tight my hip flexors are and as you have said this can cause the pain. I absolutely love all your videos and have been practicing with you every day since the Covid pandemic! Thank you and J hope cleo is still doing well ❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
My lower back got real tight after a month of working out (running, squats, cycling) and working at my desk. I've been doing this practice every day for five days now and my back feels a lot better. It's not 100% but I"m sticking with this practice as the results so far suggest it'll keep improving. Oh and it's really relaxing to do which is great! Thanks!
