    I was with T-Mobile for 10 years and switched to Mint. There’s no difference in service I can tell. I had 2 lines that cost $111 per month and now those 2 lines cost $33

    Yeah, I agree it is pretty crazy to be honest. The average cost in the US is around $70--80 i think. It only gets cheaper on most carriers if you have a huge family. That is why I like Mint because there is only 2 of us, so $360 total for a year, which isn't bad at all.

    I was the same in the UK before Brexit. In Australia I am on the lowest plan I can get...$45 a month. In Ukraine I pay $15 a year but it doesn’t have international...it’s a $5 plan month if I want international (and yes, I travel a lot). The thing to actually look at how much it costs you to receive calls if your out of country.

    That is what I liked about google fi a lot it worked everywhere and was no different fees. International here in the states is also super weird and expensive on most plans. Mint so far you just pay as you go for international data… so whenever we go traveling again 2022? I will know then how it is.

    I tried Mint 2 years ago after they specifically confirmed (on 3 occasions) that I would absolutely have Visual Voicemail AND Wi-Fi Calling on the particular phone variant I was using at the time. NEITHER was available. I switched to Fi after the 3 months, and have been happy there for a couple years now.

    Interesting. I have an iPhone SE 2 and working here for Wi-Fi Calling for sure. On my iPhone it does seem to support Visual Voicemail. I followed support.apple.com/en-us/HT201436 and see the features www.mintmobile.com/setup/iphone/. I did like Google Fi alot, but for 2 people didn't make too much sense and when I switch to iPhone obviously Fi isn't great for that.

    Thanks for the informative video. When you say "international data" what does that mean specifically? Isn't all Internet traffic the same? Also, does your data on Mint rollover, or is it just lost?

  • @JamesMontemagno

    @JamesMontemagno

    2 жыл бұрын

    No rollover data with Mint. When you travel outside of the US, you need to purchase international credits. Basically it is charged separate from your main plan… which is odd. We recently travelled international and put $10 of data which based on where you go isn’t a lot… about 50mb… so it is expensive. I ended up using an eSim on another phone and used an international data plan for 30 days which was 5gb for $25. Was good to have mint as a backup. If you travel international tons then I would look into that

    I had t mobile for many years,I switched to mint since they use t mobile networks, after 3 months I will still stick with them as I am on tight budget, but make no mistake it's not as good t mobile, your data Is deprioratized and it will be slower , no question about it, in some areas it will be so slow you won't be able to use internet. But at home I use wi fi, when I see my kids I'm on their wi fi, so it works, but remember it will be slow at times,and real bad travel data the most expensive of any plan period, to give you example to buy 1gb roaming data will cost you $60 , just for 1gb which is nothing..

  • @justgivemethetruth

    @justgivemethetruth

    Does your data get de-prioritized even if you pay for unlimited data? Have you ever tried the Personal Hotspot, and do you think you could run a home desktop computer or a set-top TV box such as a ROKU on that?

    I could never do the 4gb plan. The Unlimited 30.00 plan is reasonable, and I have two days left in my first month and I’m already at 16.7gb. This from streaming every day at work. Radio is crap anymore so this is my radio. Better than OTA and Satellite Radio because I get to pick what I want to listen to, when I want to listen to it and it’s not restricted to just radio, which I almost never listen to music anymore because it too is garbage.

    So the original 3 month + sim kit was $45 + $6.50 in tax/misc fees. Then to keep the $15 a month plan you pre-pay for an entire year, so that would be $180 and again around $10ish for tax/fees.

    3:52 - At this timestamp you say "now one thing to know here this is $45 dollars a month for the first three months" "and to keep that $15 a month you need to pre-purchase a whole year". This seems contradictory to me .... Do you mean to say you must prepay $45 for the first three months? That is for only 4GB of data per month? Does the unused data rollover?

  • @JamesMontemagno

    @JamesMontemagno

    2 жыл бұрын

    So when you sign up for the first time they make you do a 3 month plan at the $15 a month price. After 3 months you can go month by month and it is more expensive, else you can prepay for 12 months and lock the $15 price. I must have misspoke but it is $15 a month for the first 3 months equaling $45
