Actually, the one with the carriage horse was an unprovoked and very serious attack by the unleashed dog in the public park! The dog's owner wasn't even able to get hold of her dog until it was all over. During the attack, the carriage driver got out of the carriage to attempt to keep the horse calm as there were children riding in the carriage and she was injured in the chaos. Huge props to the horse for not just flat out bolting through the park full of people! The horse was eventually able to kick the dog hard enough to stop the attack and the dog later had to be put down. The horse was badly injured as well with many bites to her legs, neck and face!

The dog was on a harness from what I understood. And was able to back out of the harness to attack the horse. NO DOG SHOULD EVER be on a harness. Many can slip out (mine can). A martingale type collar is the best control for any dog, large to small. It workes like a choke collar but pulls evenly on both sides. The attack to the horse as I undersatand lasted 20 minutes with the dog repeatedly attacking the horse, until the horse fatally injured dog. @@karolinadovehook3776

Always the dogs paying for their owners' stupidity, and lack of control on them... Horses have few defenses, but a kick, or a bite, can kill a dog, and Human, or another animal. They are dangerous, in a way, if surprised, or attacked, like we can see on many of those videos. Taking the time to learn more about Horses' body language could help, and not letting any dog or pet going after them would be clever.

We let our horses loose in the pen after riding so they could roll and relax a bit after training. My mare hated dogs, living in a small country with not much large free natural areas, special horse paths in forests also used by other visitors with their dogs that are not used to horses or simply undisciplined and not under control chasing horses, I thaught my horse to not flee but turn around and reverse the tables. Gave her the confidence it was ok, stay relaxed, nothing to be afraid of and not be scared from the dog but confront it and chase after it instead. Dogs are not wired to handle that situation and will just run untill they drop. Unfortunatly that was a neccessaty after a few incidents of uncontrolled dogs trying bitng her leg and even hanging on her tail (she kicked out, the dog wnet flying and landed screaming) but I just rode on leaving the owner I warned before it happened to call their dog back to deal with it. (again i love dogs but at that moment my horse is the priority) , the only dog she tolerated was my dog, she could not care less where he was or what he did around her, he did never chase her. Just trying to get a bite of her poo and chew on the pieces of hoof when the ferrier came 🤣🤣🤣, any other dog though was always in danger of a kick or bite. I always warned people at the riding school not to let their dog get in the pen when my mare was loose. They thought it funny if there little critter (i love dogs) chased their horse aorund the pen. One day one of them thought it funny to just let her dog do what it liked and i should relax. Instead of running away like the dog was used to so he could chase her, my mare turned around went into attack mode and outright went for the kill trampling it, did not end well for the dog. Horses are not nice, they dont need to be scared or cornered to go into attack mode, she went through fire for me, but just like that guy with the trained white horse, she kicked out at me if not carefull. It's not being startled, it's just enough, i dont want to right now, give me 5 minutes and you can do whatever you want. That stallion and the crocodile, the stalion went for it because he wanted, the crocodile was no threat at all, it would never attack out of water and the stalion new.

But, just in the last 10 years, a neighboring trainer lost a yearly colt, and her best show stallion was ripped up so bad they had to retire him from anything but breeding--the scar tissue was awful on the poor guy. Then just a few months ago, my cousin (who breeds Arabians) lost two horses to pit bulls. It's gotten so bad that any stray bully-breed dog we see anymore gets some lead between the eyes. The problem is, they tend to pack-up and then your problem is way worse.

These horses are being portrayed in the worst light. They are not doing anything but protecting themselves. The "attacks" were not unexpected or sudden. The horses gave plenty of warning that they were not happy and would defend themselves. Horses are very good at communicating, it's whether or not those they are communicating to listen. Most of the dogs kicked were NOT playing with the horses, they were attacking them. The horses just defended themselves. The dog owners should not have allowed the dogs to attack. In public, dogs should be leashed. The only exception to that is a dog park. On private property, unless you know the horse and the dog, it is best to keep them away from each other. Dogs are predators to the horse being prey, it is normal for a horse to want to protect itself from any harm. My gelding tried to play with my small dog, and nearly trampled him. My fault, I should not have let my dog into the round pen. That never happened again. My dogs will not go into a horse's pen. If they show any propensity to do so, they are put up until I am done doing whatever I am doing with the horse.

If you look closely the goose bite the horse before he kicked out, the cat had its claws out and the dogs chasing the horse are the dog owners complete fault.
