Thank you for making such great content for the Mac community! A video idea that would be very interesting would be a guide for video games on Mac. For example, talk from native games to Playcover, Crossover, Parallels, Wisky, GPTK, Rosetta. Explain the current situation of gaming on Mac. How to make the best use of all the tools that exist depending on the type of gaming that the person wants to do. Those types of videos are the ones that give the most reach and numbers, and surely it would be a great help. I am an enthusiast and I have studied a lot of the subject, I still learn with your videos. And I am sure that those who want to understand how all this works, would be very grateful.

@@ejdhdjejejebdnem nah, as I said, with GPTK2 and translations, you can run most modern games. Sure, it’s not going to perform as well, but you don’t buy a Mac for gaming. You buy those for productivity and hey, if there’s a game you wanna play and actually works fine now, then why not? Though I’m not the target audience with a RTX 4080 desktop lol. I just like Apple laptops.

There was definitely a lot more than DOTA2 and a few other. Steams show 20k games with Mac support.

It’s like a broken record. The M1 is 4 years old at this point. It will just have considerably worse performance and that’s all you need to know. There are other videos on this channel that show the difference.

Thanks for the list, I've added a few to my wishlist. Although the game library on Mac is very limited, it's the limitations that push you to go and try new games, that you otherwise would never consider playing.

The long dark is amazing

Everspace 2 is a fantastic game. It’s a must play.

Does anyone know why I cannot run the EA app in crossover? I am trying to play Titanfall 2 and used to be able to play, but now the ea app will not even launch it on my m1 MacBook Air. Did the ea app break for crossover or smth? Thanks

It’d be nice to know if the GOG equivalents are also Silicon Native too. I’m guessing most will be Rosetta based, but it seems hard to find the info to be sure.

Question: When I play a non-steam game on my M2 pro Mac Mini a dialog box say ‘Entering game mode’. If I play a game in steam the mac never says entering game mode. Am I losing performance on steam?

Hey guys!! Hope someone can help me with a solution. I bought Call of Duty Black ops III. But sadly when I wanna start playing any of the modes I get stuck in a loading screen.

I would suggest you have a look at Carrier Command 2, it's a bit of a niche strategy game, a remake of an 80s classic, and works well on my M2 Pro

i tried Valheim on my MBA M1 8 gb and it running with fluid 60 fps almost max graphs, very good optimization btw.

Please make another summary video like this but a list of games can run on CrossOver (both GPTK 1 & 2) and their performance/FPS.

I have M3 Pro MacBook and just buy CrossOver license but still hesitant to choose more games to buy because I'm wondering about its compatibility and performance with CrossOver and GPTK. If you make that video, it would be a huge help for me and of course for many people out there interested in gaming on Mac.

A lot of these games would be so good on iPad pros with m series chips, especially Valhime. I hope we can get Lies of P on M chip iPad Pros soon, that game is very well made and optimised. I’d love to see boulders gate 3 also, but i have a feeling this will need the M4 for the extra power and tbh be the 16gb iPad. So i have a feeling these very large games wont come to iPad pros until Apple start giving 12-16gb Ram as standard.

I also have a mac, its a productivity beast but for a good gaming experience you need the top end (which can cost upwards of $3500+), I just got a steamdeck OLED for $480m, all games look better play better leaving only couple of most demanding ones that are not playable.

I think Rosetta should have included emulation for 32 bit titles. It is possible, Apple just didn’t implement it. Most of Valve games like half life, left 4 dead, team fortress 2 etc. work on 32bit so parallels is the only option, even though they used to work on intel macs

Yes it's playable 30-40 FPS Low at 800p.

Is Metro Exodus run in native ARM or rosetta?

Forgetting the biggest - Sims 4… it runs natively on ARM, apple silicon and is optimized for metal. With an M3 Pro I was getting 90+ FPS at 3K Ultra settings. This was better performance than a 4070 Zephyrus G14 with a 8945HS CPU (I tested both)… and was actually the only reason I got a MacBook for work instead of the G14 because MacOS is better streamlined for my work over windows, and as a bonus runs sims 4 better than most windows laptops I’ve tried. Of course a high powered $3000+ gaming laptop outperforms an M3 Pro MacBook, but then again the M3 Max competes well with those high end gaming laptops

Sims 4 is a fantastically optimised native Mac game but the macOS version is Origin only, not on Steam :).

Andrew please showcase the M3 base macbooks, the ones with 16gb RAM. :) We can't afford the M3 Max, not even Pro. :))

I'm crying right now. I started to play Valheim a week after Ashland's update release (~20 may). At that moment there was still no Mac version. So I played on my MacMini m2 8gb, by using Whisky. Low settings, crashed twice (black screen , had to power off manually). Ashland's unplayable. And now! Now, you are telling me they realise Mac version. I finished it less than weak ago ffs! (xbox cloud gaming) ;) Anyway Valheim is a great game, strongly recommend, specially in cooperation. Peace

Nowadays people call games playable when they can barely run at HD resolution and the lowest possible settings. In this case yes, games are playable on base models :)

PLEASE PLEASE show MSFS 2020! Why won't anyone show this game on Mac? Does it get 20FPS, 150 FPS? Noone knows. Or does it just not work.. Would love to know either way with all the latest updates in Mac gaming. Thanks.. If anyone has done this review would love to see the link. Thanks!

We keep asking for various games that no one seem to cover, but this hyperfocus on fps, rpg, is getting old. I keep coming here because you are the public face of GPTK, but other than a couple games sprinkled in (civ, card game), they are nearly all the same type of game.
