We have have been quite pleased & impressed with ELDX in 7mmRemMag & 300WinMag for deer and elk in our family and friends in our hunting circle. Mainly under 400 yards for both but some deer and cow elk beyond 500. Excellent performance. Not too many recovered bullets because full pass throughs have been typical. But the bullets recovered have been fully, well expanded and completely intact. The consistent accuracy is impressive. Thank you.

I know there’s probably high demand for the mainstream bullets but reloaders like myself would appreciate some more of the “component only” projectiles like the ones you’ve done previously such as the Speer bullets for example. No complaints only requests! Keep this stuff going!

Impressive results. With off the shelf ammo Hornady pockets most of the savings from the basic design. But as a handloader the ELD-X is a third of an AccuBond. Btw I shoot the 200 grain ELD-X in my 30-06 @ 2550 ft/s and so far I really like what I am seeing

As an old mountain man, who understands the importance of bullet construction as it relates to velocity no matter the caliber I'm worn-out by stupid closed minded people. What mean is the a group who will compare a hard cast 45-70 bullet to a random 150gr 30-06 in a water jug test@ a distance of I got wet. When the bullet fragments concludes..... see 45-70 is superior to the 06😮. So though the water jug test does not have the same relivence as my long years worth of median test, it is not irrelevant. So I going to link your channel to an up coming video of mine. A video I think I'll call STOP THE INSANITY!! Thank Goodness you young have the energy for this. Mountain man

🛑🛑 Great Video!! I know you folks have done many videos around the ELDX Bullet . I’m really on the fence, when shooting my Weatherby 257 Magnum at White Tails. I’m concerned with 100 yards and in, as the bullet traveling that fast (3400 ft/sec) can breakup. Please provide any information in regards to the 257 Weatherby and bullet characteristics. Thank You.

I love these tests. It is interesting that based upon impact medium, velocity, and annecdotal experience one can see highly different results. I used to use 7mm 162 gr ELDX but I quickly went away from them as 200 yards and in I never recovered a bullet in an animal. The results were devistating and it did exactly what it is supposed to do. I am not complaining about that. I had consistent jacket core seperation and would find the jacket. For some that may be perfect but I like a tougher bullet and if possible pass through. Your observations and recommendations I agree with although energy is not a measure of killing power (funny how its been presented that way for quite a long time.) I keep any distance limitations based from my experience solely on bullet velocity for expansion. Is energy important? I would opin most assuredly but that it is a side effect of mass and velocity. That said I am not a ballistician by any means but it often seems to me that bullet manufacturers list minimum expansion velocity for SOME expansion and energy because of hydrolic and hydrostatic shock. I would personally prefer a general number of maximum expansion velocity. However that is a personal preference and others thoughts and experiences certainly may vary. Keep up the great work!

Just use federal terminal accent for elk. These are terrible on deep vitals animals.. they open up to fast for elk. Barley enter the vitals. The federal terminal accent open up fast with bonded lead front half but the back half is solid copper. They drive deep deep and hold together

My concern with these eld bullets is I used the sst a couple times and they blow up at the ranges I shoot in. I hunt in the north east and pretty close up shots. So I want a bullet that holds together a little better. The sst was not a good bullet for what I do here but is the eld a better bullet as far as totally coming apart between 50 and 100 yards.

I used factory 308 at a deer at about 70 yds, quartering away shot. Bullet exploded, left palm sized bloody mess in the ribcage at entrance, lost the core, mangled jacket ended up under hide on opposite side. Deer ran 20-30 yds. Can't say I like the bullet based on my experience but yours seems to hold in one piece.

Min energy is a myth just look at handgun hunting for instance. I am now at 2 waterbuck bulls, 5 kudu cows and 4 kudu bulls, 6 impalas, 6 warthogs, a few bushbuck, 1 eland cow and 2 bushpigs with eldx and they perform just fine, they kill nicely al exits wounds exept frontal head shots on kudu bulls and one qaurteing to kudu cow which was about to run so I had no choice, the recovered bullet weighd around 100 grs shot was at 70 meters. The sierra gamekings do perform a little better in my opinion with slightly less fragmentation on the meat and better weight retention, however a small difference, the eldx seems to be more accurate in my firearms than the gamekings.

I heard a Hornady rep explain how they designed the ELD-X to expand at long ranges. That made me think: would it pencil in at 50 yards, explode? I like fast, light-ish 270 and 280AI loads. While I often shoot at the 150-300 yards; however, I did have a deer come in at 75yds.
