3 YEARS of Development Put to the Test ON TRACK | ASMotorsports

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We've been taking our Trainer S2000s to Barber Motorsports Park with JustTrackIt for 4 years; first Trainer1, then Trainer2, and this year Trainer3. In that time, we've fine tuned our GLTC-spec K-swap S2000 package through chassis, aero, and power tuning; not to mention the driver mod over the years. The result: over 6 seconds of lap time improvement, proven with video and data logging. There's no substitute for time and hard work when it comes to developing a vehicle. There really is no limit. Enjoy an analysis of our Trainer S2000s with Andy and in-car video of the progression.
Raw laps:

The S2000 has 2 huge tunnels that no one bothers to exploit for downforce. It just takes a few modifications of the front fender liners to get a good effect. If you put some deflectors behind the front tires to outwash air, it'll improve the performance of the floor. Some expensive body kits do an ok job of it. Outwashing behind the front tires or rear tires is an excellent strategy to get more floor performance. Most floors are just flat bottoms that cover up the drivetrain with cooling ducts for the transmission and diff. Or just straight up cover the tunnels, those are 2 potential venturi tunnels. Similarly, placing outwashing deflectors behind the rear tires improves diffuser performance noticeably for a small drag penalty. Not a big deal because you'll reduce drag by running lower wing angle for the same downforce level. Not only that it makes it easier to balance the car when it has more global downforce. Only real downside is it increases aero pitch sensitivity, downforce will change more as the car pitches under braking, and rolls under cornering.

Would having weekly ASM tech talk live sessions make sense? (cuts down on editing, youtube pays out, and viewers tip $) The topics I think track enthusiast and k swap folks would enjoy are... Details on development with vibration issues. Diff tuning would be very interesting, ASM aero setup development (go into detail what you feel as a driver that makes you want to make changes and what you feel after changes). suspension tuning (how to turn knobs, spring rates, alignment, ride height) tire pressures, race car reliability development, operating temps of fluids, what fluids to use, cheat code/life hack kswap parts that make life easier, AIM/PDM setup, engine tuning... I am sure people have so many questions, race cars are hard lol.

Haha. That all sounds awesome. But to be very truthful- we don’t really know what we are doing most of the time. Hahaha. I hate spreading miss information. We make many of our decisions based off experience and/or theories. This is why I’m always hesitant to share information unless I know 100% (99.9%, never can be 100%) it’s correct.

We run the ZWG-260 wing on the GLTC S2000s - shop.zebulonmsc.com/products/1999-2009-honda-s2000-carbon-fiber-rear-wing They also make a larger option for S2000s, some other chassis-specific wings, and a universal GLTC-spec wing for pretty much any option.
