So you know all the basic guitar techniques and you’re looking for a way to stand out from the crowd? Well, I’ve picked out three unconventional guitar techniques that you can steal and incorporate into your own playing.
These techniques are Derek Trucks’ picking style, John Mayer’s use of his thumb while playing, and Chris Buck’s insane sliding bends. In this video, I’ll show you how they use these skills and how you can make them your own. Be sure to use the chapter markers to navigate the lesson!

The technique for Chris buck is called a grace note it is very similar to a flam on the drums where there is a smaller quiet note and a much louder target note. I'm mainly a drummer more than a guitarist and this technique seems to be the closest to a flam I've seen so I think it's safe to say it's called a grace note! Love the content btw just found your channel and it has been super helpful so far thanks so much and keep it up!

I've found muting with the thumb to be really helpful for rake bends as well.
