Yes. It's incrrmental. Make sure you have signed in with the Google account used for WhatsApp GDrive backup. Rename database folder under internal memory>WhatsApp> to something else and then setup WhatsApp. This may restore all the chats.

What you meant by lost? Used different number or what. Usually it's incremental and does not replace the existing backup.

Hi.. I need one solution.. My note 8 got damaged so I took backup of my watsapp on that phone and gave it for a repair and I used my friend's j5 until note 8 gets repaired and I installed whatsapp in j5 but was not able to recover backup in that due to shortage of storage so I started using a new watsapp and i put that on autobackup daily by mistake. Hello!! really helpfull video but i have a verry specific issue and i dont know what to do. so my phone battery died, and i got a new cheap phone to replace it menwhile i replaced the battery of my old phone, i wasnt able to restore the media files of the old phone but i was able to restore all the messages (i lost voice notes, pictures, ect) when i returned to my old phone i did a restore just to find i had all the files and media that i though i had lost, and i had all the chats, but all the new media files, and new messages i had on the new phone where missing, what can i do? is there anyway i can "merge" the data from both phones and restore them on my old phone?

Please check you have logged in to right Gmail account on your phone. Seems you have more than one GDrive connected. Sign out and try Gmail account you may have possibly used before.

Just follow the guide of renaming chats. If that doesn't work, chats are gone

Yeah, just rename existing whatsapp folder l, clear app data and sign in It will restore from google. Once restored, export chat and clear app data, delete the new Whatsapp folder and rename the earlier renamed whatsapp folder

If you have lost phone than only way was to restore chats from the Google Drive. If Google Drive didn't had latest backup available, then there's no way to restore chats. Always backup chats once a week

@@ravis1ngh : People say it can't be restored except for the paid softwares. Had I known the answer, I wouldn't ask. I just uninstalled whatsapp and it automatically deleted the whatsapp folder. I earlier restored several times from the local backup and Google drive but this time it's showing no backup is found on the Google drive and local backup's folder got auto deleted that's why I am searching for a way to get it back somehow. I have lost all the data, all my poems, pictures, media files.

You can browse your Google drive manually abd look for the backup. Login to Google drive, search for WhatsApp folder and find the database file. If found, download it and follow the steps of renaming databse file shared in the video.

Dont do it you will lose all your old chat this only recover your recent chats
