So great to see FightTips still going strong. This man has been a student his whole life and a true martial artist imo. That's what makes him a great teacher, and why I always look for the most recent videos. Your earlier videos gave me some killer kicks, but your new outlook on timing rather than speed shows that you really reached that 'next level'. Stay strong friend P.S. You shoulnd't talk too much to dolls in your old age :P

One of my fav combos with jab is 1-2, 1-2, 1 feint strong jab to the head, and then liver shot. Manipulating my opponent's body to expose their weak spot.

I'm 6'5", 270. Just shy of an 80" reach. Proud to say my jab is my most formidable punch. I can throw high volume, long range, and very stiff. Really disrupts my sparring partners. 75% of everything I throw as a traditional slugger/brawler is a lead left to set up my power shots.

Even with all the matches I've watched and rewatched, I continue to ask. Why do fighters extend their arms with the palm foward as if to telegraph catching a jab? I'm not referring to guaging the distance, but the habit (maybe strategy is more accurate) of motioning a wax on, wax off movement of the palm.

my jab is 3... at the start of the fight it becomes annoying later on in the spar cuz I make them get used to a tell and play on that purposed throw bad ones not obvious and and quick rights as I move my head out of the way cuz they comin and I know that I only how they don't throw a combo with a shovel hook up top cuz that's gonna hurt like till next week... later would eliminate that and just jab and check hooks... if they forget the right oh it's coming. but my best jab is probably just a 5 or 6? I mostly just throw it to block their sight I don't really care if it hits I know I'm wrong... but I ain't a pro and I'm an idiot lol. and I've sparred pros I been hit by counters sucks to chew on those days and you feel liked hangover when you are not.

Hey Shane, does muscle slow you down? Does it impact on cardio?, I'm 5' tall so my muscle frame are quite blocky, i realized that my attack are significantly slower than other fighter, is it because of experience, like muscle memory, or because my muscle are slowing me down? I've only been training for 1 year and my opponent is more like 3-4 years. I feel like i get ragdolled and thrown around very easily, his punch and kick were lightning fast and hurt so so bad. I start to feel not so good about having muscle and doesn't know how to use it.

How many kg ? And how much of it is bodyfat ? There is different type of muscle, you can get big but only have slow fiber, or genetically you might just not be gifted with nervous system being able to contract every fiber all at once, both of these you can work on to get better tho, no need to get discouraged, it’s just the journey, and even tho your journey is not UNIQUE cauz I mean, we are a lot It’s still something that is about you so you should always strive to work on your issue ! Gl man

Having big, dense muscles can be great for being able to absorb more damage compared to a slighter frame seeing that muscles are essentially natural armor. But they can also be a liability if you don't train your tendons and ligaments to be able to move that bulk around quickly and/or you don't train enough cardio to be able to sustain operating your muscles in intense bursts of activity. "Explosiveness" is important for making your strikes actually count. As far as your training partner being more experienced than you, that is also a big factor. In addition to probably also having trained specifically for speed, they're likely a lot more efficient at working the biomechanics of their body to achieve power through acceleration rather than bulk. At the end of the day striking power is pure physics according to the Newtons second formula of "Force = Mass * Acceleration", so being able to capitalize on both mass and acceleration yields a lot more power than relying mostly on mass. This is probably where you currently feel like you are lacking as you have not learned how accelerate your limbs optimally yet. Also, don't underestimate what your own strikes feel like. Your partner might have felt them well enough but might not have commented on it out of a sense of pride. :)

@@fighttips Hello Shane, I love your videos. You have superb high kicks; your agility with legs, balance and flexibility are outstanding. I've always wanted to watch a video of you having a few rounds of light sparring with a pure boxer: your high kicks against his boxing techniques (especially if the boxer is taller and heavier than you). Do you maybe have a video like that in which you spar with a boxer who has a lot of boxing experience, but no experience with kicks?

If an opponent backs away, there's not much to do but try working them into a corner, cutting of their possible angles of retreat and then exploding in on them to pin them there. Not much else to do unless you have a reach advantage over them in which case them voluntarily backing off is actually an advantage for you.
