-Reframe the ask -Build relationships - understand what they care about and ask donor questions about their life - 75% listening 25% talking -“would you consider?... the need” - we have to be as committed to funding our work as we are to executing our work

Guys I have a TedTalk to prepare for school in a week. I'm stuck with 2 topics: Social awkwardness anxiety(perks and stuff) Why humanity is disgusting(and how to solve it) Can u help me choose one plz 😭😭😭

  • @jhammer2418

If you have an actual solution, the "why humanity is disgusting" would be the best because having a solution to that is a bold claim and a huge impact. Otherwise the benefits of anxiety sounds intriguing due to how demonized anxiety is.

I'm Australian. It's embarrassing baggage to deal with the way our population elected a climate change denying party only a few months ago. At that time they were denying requests from the fire chiefs for more equipment. Only a month ago they were saying that crazy inner city greenies were hesterical for linking climate change and fires, at the same time as they were ignoring the Pacific island nations who were pleading for our help. Only weeks ago our government was claiming at COP25 that we were pulling our weight, while claiming that our natural gas exports were helping reduce emissions, but ignoring our coal exports. So far these fires have released half of Australia's usual annual greenhouse emissions. That's the baggage. We have to deal with it first. Then, if people are inclined to help, you have to say what help you want, how they they can deliver it, and why it is good for them.

Anyone who attempts to sell me anything through the phone , televised fund drives and especially door to door is already encroaching on my time and personal space .Of course it must help that potential donors willingly attend those meetings in the first place and that she is well spoken and lets face it young , blond and attractive .

We could really use your help with this extraordinary project: Anyone needing help rebuilding after a disaster (or for any other needs) can create their C'8 profile and Aid Needed post(s) here www.c8coordinate.com (work in progress) and those wanting to help can create their C'8 Aid Offer posts for direct donations as well. What #AidCoordinationPlatform do you use and is it free, available to all, 100% transparent and purely altruistic? Is it an efficient and effective force-multiplier like C'8? Introducing C'8 - Coordinate, a purely altruistic, free and available to all international disaster (and other) aid coordination platform that unites all aid givers with all disaster victims and communities in need as well as with aid materials suppliers and the rest of the world that might be moved to give aid in some way from a distance. Where Facebook is social, LinkedIn is business, etc, C’8 is one purely altruistic unified platform for aid coordination. With C'8 you could help any person to create their C'8 profile and post(s) of their needs and you could then endorse their post as well as someone with personal knowledge of this person's need for example. I/we invite you to begin to use C'8 to help those at the top of your list of people you'd like to see receive aid/more aid.

TEDx are independently organized events that draw from some more unknown or regionally relevant talent pools. And anyway, TED has been around for so long now, even the official TED events will need to dig deeper for speakers eventually.
