    Congrats on getting the backing from Vocaloid -- really useful video, as usual. I am not buying it today but next time I have some budget it is on the list.

    Hey Austin! I've been following and really enjoying your videos lately, and I've come to a point where I feel the need to beg you for an all around vocal tutorial. In depth (can be an hour for all I care). Where you'd show tips and tricks in recording the vocals, to comping them and all the way to mixing. They are always on POINT in your videos. Hopefully you'll see this :) Best regards.

    Hey Austin, I really love your videos! Great job keep on rockin'! If you go to Preferences -> Transport you can tick the "Return to Start Position on Stop" box, so you don't always have to jump back and forth between Vocaloid and Cubase, while trying out different melodies. I hope this helps, have an absolutely awesome day, Philipp

    Can you record vocals in live? then manipulate them to suit? or do you have to upload a mp3 file (vocal) then add or manipulate the mp3 file? Cheers in advance.

  • @HyperNova137

    @HyperNova137

    3 жыл бұрын

    You've probably figured this out already, but you can't do any of that; The voices all begin with midi notes, audio files don't have any information that the program can use... As opposed to something like Melodyne, which actually transforms audio into midi first so you can manipulate it.

    I'm duly impressed. Quick question; is there away to import spoken lyrics and then using Vocaloid to create sung lyrics? Please forgive my ignorance on this matter. Just curious what's possible. Thank you.

  • @HyperNova137

    @HyperNova137

    3 жыл бұрын

    Bit hard to understand your exact question, but when you say "import lyrics" I think the answer is no; Vocaloid only deals with midi, so you have to define the notes before anything else... Meaning you can't speak or sing into it, or import an audio file and then manipulate it by transforming it into midi like you can with Melodyne.

    Late, you cant import lyrics by singing them, but you can copy-paste lyrics or Import Vsq and Vsqxs that made by someone. Also, you can also tune them freely, even to sounds like real singer (If you want to check it out, check Mitchie M's works!). The Vocaloid fanbase is huge, including countless producers, ranged from hobbyist to professional, i recommend you to ask them if you have any questions.

    absolutely loved it. i'm 99% sure that i'm asking a foolish question (and i'm experienced, so shame on me) but will ask any way before i buy vocaloid 5: q. I CAN create totally independent melodies and have the 'vocalists' sing my melodies. i do not in any way HAVE to use the supplied stock phrases. so, if i want to create a 3 minute song with vocals all the way through - not that i do - the program allows it. there's no 'limit' on how long the vocal lines can last and i'm not required to use stock phrases. can create my own, entirely independent, vocal melodies?

  • @HyperNova137

    @HyperNova137

    Since your comment is a year old I'm sure you've figured out by now -- yes, part of what made Vocaloid popular is the huge number of anime-style characters that they used to sort of personify their voice banks, and many of them are featured in HUNDREDS (maybe thousands) of full-length songs, often mixed and combined together to create different colored harmonies. But as you can tell from this quick demo, it's a huge amount of work!

    Is there a competing product yet with more american voices?

  • @HyperNova137

    @HyperNova137

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's really rough to find good American voices from any of them... But I will mention that a decent FREE product that does the same thing pretty well (though with far less functionality) is ALTER/EGO by Plogue. I think they had some legal issues that kept them from expanding on it, so there aren't many voice banks available either, but it actually sounds pretty good and you can even perform the singing in real-time, complete with the lyrics that you've typed in. ;)

    I noticed that you weren't using Vocaloid for Cubase which would have been more appropriate if it wasn't for the fact that it is a worthless piece of software. As for Vocaloid 5, it's got lots of miles togo before it measures up to audio editing software like Melodyne. I know that they are apples and oranges but I'm talking functionality wise. Vocaloid needs better integration into the Daws. Perhaps through ARA2 support just like Melodyne does it.
