    Th illegal pitch being called crow hopping by many here, including the announcers, is actually leaping. Crow hopping is when the pitcher replants and pushes off from somewhere other than the rubber.

    The more I watch the more I see her crowhopping. She does both but the main reason why she is so deceptive with her drop and change is because of the replant. She does it on the tip of her toe which makes it extremely deceptive but it’s noticeable if you are looking for it

    Coaches should seek clarification on this type of pitching practice. I’ve been following softball for 25 years and the crow hopping issue was strictly enforced back 15-20 years ago so a lot of pitchers adapted. But it seems like in the last 15 years that it hasn’t been a rule that’s been enforced. Because of inconsistency in application of the “rule” the current class of pitchers moving up to college level ball would be treated unfairly through no fault of their own making.

    Have a feeling the 'Illegal" pitches Bahl throws are going to be called ALOT more come the world series. She is 5'8" and regularally leaps all the way out of the Circle (8 feet) not even Monica Abbott or Kat Osterman who are BOTH 6'3" can do that. Also the pitching lane, she did it in HS and Club team, And is doing it now, all out of the lane to HER Left. We will see if it's an issue as Coaches Will Ask for it, as it DOES Depend on the Umps working the Games in the Series, hopefully the Umps don't get intimidated and call Clean Games come the World Series in 2022. I see it all the time. And alot of pitcher WILL go to it as a GoTo pitch when they feel their in trouble. Gonna be interesting.

    This is why the men and some of the women organizations have simply legalized leaping. Leaving the call to the umpires is silly. Especially when they don't call it for 25 pitches and then suddenly decide to interject themselves into the game. Just dumb and unnecessary. Apparently they are fine with pitchers stepping back now rather than having two feet on the rubber, so just take another step and quit worrying about the pitchers foot work. It really doesn't affect the pitches.

  • @milesboulton9885
    @milesboulton98852 жыл бұрын

    In the past I've enjoyed watching Oklahoma softball. However, when the umps don't have the stones to call an obvious illegal pitch which gives Oklahoma a substantial advantage, it's no longer fun to watch. If they're going to allow a second push-off which is closer to home plate than the rubber, why not make it really interesting and allow a triple-jump approach toward the plate. In this case, the pitcher might be able to deliver the ball only 10 feet from the batter and we can watch even lower scoring games.
