I fall in these gategories and i play my saxophone for 3 years i think this is becuase of covid becuase i have a teacher and i learned the saxophone in the school

the 4th type of annoying alto player is the one who joins band because they don’t want to do another elective. 🤦🏽‍♀️ 😂

you forgot, “slaps every note/most rough articulation ive ever heard”, as well as “purposefully makes the saxophone sound like a fog horn.”

2 and 3 basically covered “that lead alto” that always finishes your phrases because they have perfect pitch.

I can’t help it- when I first learned vibrato my teacher told me to just do it all of the time to get better at it and now I can’t even tell if I’m doing it or not 😭

every saxophone player has been through these phases

I'm a good alto saxophone player an I do tend to play loud but I have asthma so it makes it harder for me to control how loud I am playing

I used to have a peer in band on alto that would play careless whisper every single second he got. Band director just stopped talking? Plays careless whisper, done with a song? plays careless whisper, you breath? plays careless whisper. idk if he was tryna rizz someone up, but I about took his sax a couple times lol

i do all three but im not known for it, im known for being the reckless jazz improv guy

I'm all of those but I played bass clarinet. once I started playing tenor I just got worse. but never played alto. haha. the guitar and I just jam all the time he's a Jr & I'm a freshmen so it's was the coolest thing when I showed up haha

I know two altos who are both the epitome of I can play careless whisper. Both good friends, but it gets a bit old.

You forgot the one who can't stop squeeking and the one who makes fun of you for when your cheeks puff out.

Me, who plays clarinet and has exhibited all of these behaviors;

the only reason i know how to play Carless Whisper is cause one of my guy friends wanted to ask out their crush and asked me to play it if/when she said yes lmao 😂 proud sax moment ngl

I’m not even in alto section, clarinet player, and I know if these. Our alto section was huge. The other type we had was I can play under the sea

I used to be the third one. My director threatened to put up a “careless whisper free zone” sign in the band room and he gave me ideas of other things to play. He recommended Never Gonna Give You Up and I started playing it and he whispered to someone “I taught her that.” It was really funny and i ended up obnoxiously squeaking lol

Been playing for 20 years (mostly in concert bands) Only ever played careless whisper last year 😅

I strongly feel this as a tenor sax player😂😂😅

I’m an alto but like every one who plays alto at least at my school is like this. Especially playing careless whisper.

Bro, you nailed it 😂 I had to contend with a tryhard (loved the guy, but man he was sweaty) who was #1 exactly as you portrayed em, lol. He loved to challenge me for first chair, but thankfully such was a test of skill and never “how quickly can I split this reed or split my tongue in half on it” 😂

You forgot the part where they “criticize you for how you play, even though you play a different instrument” 😭

I feel attacked at the vibrato one, I struggle to keep it out of my playing naturally 🤧😭💀

Abou dynamical type, I agree.. but there's the thing - those saxophonists that always complains about anything louder can't themselves play louder when they have to. That's usually the thing.

Careless whisperer should be the forbidden riff of saxophone players

Im 3. My band teacher is genuinely tired of it so he started giving me F's for participation score everytime i play it 😂

So I guess "jumps in and finishes whatever piece you're playing" is just a given! 😂

There is this one guy in my band class(highschool) he’s really good but he is literally all 3 of these of these stereotypes and everyone hates him because of how much he does these things

I have all three at my school except in just one person 💀

Every time I take my sax out I feel like someone will come up and do that to me😂😭

Btw the second song they played was fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra

And the "I like blue notes" guy

In my 2 first years i thot that playing loud is a big thing in playing the saxophone but now i saw how stupid i was😂

As a trombonist, the only issue we face is the one guy thats always being too chaotic

The 3rd one is so funny cuz my friend always does it secretly (cuz he always play it everytime we see him in band class)

I've encountered all three of these kinds of players, and been all three of them before. I always knew about the concept of "serving the song" but it took me a lot longer to actually put it in practice. In the end its about saving the flashy stuff for a big moment, because that will make way more special!

in my school we have 5 sax players. this is how it goes, 1st chair - "im better than all of you" (he plays robotically), 2nd chair - "im louder than you" (she is literally the voice of the 1st altos, 3rd chair - "idk" (he plays so quiet sometimes i gotta wonder wheres at in the music), 4th chair - "too much" (I play too many instruments and sax being my main, im only 2nd alto most songs but im the one to not practice and still sound decent.), 5th chair - "noob" (he is new at band stuff but hes improved dramatically)

I am the only tenor in my band and I get singled out because I play with the trumbones and they play so quiet 😂

I literally am trying so hard to play Careless whisper I just don't have the time 😭 Plus I play Tenor not Alto

What about, "always plays the same song over and over again and misses every accidental" 😂 I'm glad I play tenor lol

But the vibrato sounds better in that second clip can’t lie 😩
