Do you think they all got their music from the same composer and they wrote in the same woodwind feature to save time? If that’s the case, I am not accusing said composer if laziness or anything like that. It takes a lot of work to write music, and writing 3+ pieces with three or more movements for so many instruments that are all due at generally the same time is… honestly kind of mind boggling. If you do anything original or out of the box you wont win. Its been like that since 2011. You got to play in the box, play music that fits the box, everything is quiet and sounds the same except for a few bands every now and again. Then again why play something impressive and hard when you can have the whole band play mf and never need to take in air. Judge brain.

But imo the problem with the ultra competitive texas/indiana bands is that they have much more funding/resources. No shots at those programs but they have dozens of staff members and great middle school programs too. This is not a bad thing, I think its great that the culture is so much different from everywhere else, but its how everything should be ideally. Programs are just not at that point right now, ykwim? Also box 5 does not make it easy for the band community to grow but thats a topic for another day

I wouldn’t be able to do it myself, but then again I don’t know if this is the case
Blue springs did it best
lmao i play ignition back in 8th grade now we have to play arabesque in 9th 😭😭 and i swear my middle school director told the high school director about me and now they want me to play first chair trumpet for it IM NOT THAT GOOD 😭😭😭

lmao thats tough bro
why do the guards also have the same moves??
they prolly have the same company that they buy their show programs from
lol
woodwind features in marching band shows are always this same boring repetitive linear shlock, they may as well all be the same thing
That's nothing. Our band ripped pretty much our entire 2022 show from another band's 2017 show. We found out about it the week before grand nats. The only significantly different part was our ballad, which I had suspected from the beginning didn't really fit all that well in the show, and now I know why

Blue Springs did it best (not really but i have to say it)
I mean shows are planneed years in advanced you can't just change it
If you do anything original or out of the box you wont win. Its been like that since 2011. You got to play in the box, play music that fits the box, everything is quiet and sounds the same except for a few bands every now and again. Then again why play something impressive and hard when you can have the whole band play mf and never need to take in air. Judge brain.
Probably because it’s the same show designer for all 3 schools. Happened a lot back in the late 90’s

possibly, but geographically its probably unlikely, ones from Missouri, Ones from Texas, Ones from Ohio. but I wouldn’t be surprised

@@6band well if the guy the wrote/composed and did drill for my band also did for bands in OK, AR, LA…back in the 90’s nowadays it’s even easier with everything being online and digital. (you don’t notice it until you go to a festival out of state and other bands are there.) You don’t think he would repeat things to make it easier on himself? That’s easy money.

Because all the marching bands do today is copy each other, no originality.
Because to the judges, the actual musical content doesn't matter. As long as it's clean, and you're hitting all the show design checkpoints. Hell you could have 3 groups with the exact same repertoire. Judges don't give a shit about what you write for groups, just how well the kids in the group execute what you write.

Not quite. Execution does matter but content is also vastly important.

@@ProjectThemePark Are you a show writer? Because I can tell you from experience how much of a pain it is to spend so much create something that's interesting to listen to just be beaten by shows that were executed well but the actual repertoire was boring and unmemorable.
