Wise words. Last year I was a little depressed when my Hummingbird Moth was out of focus so I zipped the shutter speed up to 1/8000 sec and could not believe, that in flight, it was completely in focus. Shall v much look forward to yr next video. Many thx
Thank you for the tip on aperture. I need to keep a closer eye on that, instead of only checking shutter speed!
Always keeping it simple and real. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. What has helped my photography the most on the OM-1 ii in the past 2-weeks is raising the ISO so I CAN shoot at a faster shutter speed. I think ISO should be renamed to SNR, signal to noise ratio. If you don't feed the sensor enough signal, you're gonna get noise.
I especially agree with your third tip, good shooting technique, since that one gets very little attention in my view when teaching photography to "newbies". I suppose it is a bias that comes from so many years of shooting film before we had high ISOs and IS/IBIS, and being "on your game" with good shooting technique was really important, but I still think it holds today, especially when using long lenses for wildlife and birds.
Very good tips.
So True❤
But you can't just set shutter and aperture to whatever you like - those two are connected, and changing one parameter requires adjusting the other one so the image won't get too dark or too bright
Good info! Thank you!
Great tips!
nice video
Thank you for the great tips Emilie. I have a specific question regarding the difference between the OM1 and OM1 MKII. I already have quite a bit of experience with the OM1+150-400mm and 300mm f4 photographing birds in flight. I'm very happy with this setup. My question is specifically regarding ProCapture SH2 and the difference between the MKI and the MKII.
What model are your sunglasses, Emilie? I’ve been looking for new ones that block light from the sides. It looks like yours would do that very well.
Are you shooting Aperture priority for birds in flight? And adjusting the shutter speed? With the new om 1m2 bird priority are you shooting all point focus? TIA.
Just interested to know if you do not use your lens zoomed out at 400mm but change to 300mm or 150mm even, can that affect sharpness. You are not using as much magnification but could crop picture later. Thinking of birds, dragonflies and butterflies in flight. I know the stabilisation is good on the OM-1 but would always take into account your other tips.
Hi Emilie! Question: Is the OM-5 suitable for the 300/f4 Pro or is it too small??
Also what do you suggest for the 3rd pt ....I wear glasses for vision?
Would be nice to see some of your images.
Great tips!
