Judge a tree by the fruit it bears. A bad tree yields bad fruit. God is the ultimate judge of eternal life or condemnation. Just be humble enough to ask forgiveness when you make bad judgements, but Jesus wants us to use our common sense.

And....justifying is in itself a form of judgment. Ie, judging your own actions as right in order to avoid any form of guilt. Feeling bad about our sin is a moral form of pain, telling us something is morally wrong in us, even as physical pain is our body’s way of telling us something is physically wrong. They are both necessary for life, one for physical life, the other for eternal life. To avoid guilt and moral pain is to continue in the way of death. So to point out someone’s moral state and bring them to a place of pain is exactly the same as a doctor pointing out the reason for physical pain, leading to healing and life. Doctors judge us all the time. And there is a difference between judgment and discernment. We would do well to look into that if we want to understand what is required of us as christians.

To walk away from someone clearly in a pit of garbage isn’t loving at all. Reaching in to help pull them out is. But to claim holier-than-you status is being judgmental and the log in that eye alone causes others to retreat to their pit.

Alisa, you are spot on, dead on target. Well done. I have had several of these judgmental conversations. King David said, "4 Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies! 5 Let a righteous man strike me-- it is a kindness; let him rebuke me-- it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it . . . . . (Psalm 141:4-5 ESV) All this directly implies that one side has judged, and David thinks it necessary that a good man would boldly confront and rebuke him.

can't thank you enough for this video...regarding the eating disorder story- "faithful are the wounds of a friend" comes to mind...how can a friend really help you if they're not willing to evaluate where you really are and have the "audacity" to point out that the direction you're heading is a bad one?...regarding "judging" generally, the one statement that kills me is the recent motto, "Only "God" can judge me", which really means, "don't you ever tell i'm wrong about anything..."...the irony is that i usually hear this from people who won't even listen to God...

I can’t remember how many times I have shared this w ppl on social media. Explaining that we make judgments all day everyday. This is how we make decisions, stay safe, grow..but doing so not in a censorious or hypocritical way. It seems to be the one scripture ppl remember. Do ppl think we, as believers , walk around wide eyed like a Manson family member? What’s interesting, is that many Christians will also believe that they are not to judge. Sifting everything through the Word requires judgement.

Hard pill to swallow for a lot of people. You try to rebuke them on the spot and you’ll see aggression come out real fast, sadly. Especially in this day and age.

I usually say “are you judging me to be judgmental? Cuz I feel judged.” Then watch the gears in they’re head explode and go in for the KILL and annihilate them as I curb stomp their anti truth doctrine into dust! Yeah I’m still working on the gently restoring in love part. Maybe I struggle just a smidge in that department

Alisa, Thank -You! Very Appropriate for Good Friday. Peace be with you, your Family and Friends, as well as the almost 7,000 folks, wherever they live, who have viewed this video as of 7:13 AM Eastern Daylight Time in the USA April 1, 2021 as I type. Let no one "Judge Foolishly" on "April Fools Day", or any other day.

Some who say "Don't Judge" don't want to be told they are doing wrong, because they enjoy it so much. But boy, if you make a mistake, they hammer you.

You have to have criteria for your decision making process. But the point is to tentatively show grace in evaluating people.

The point of that verse is to say that you have so much to perfect in yourself that you never will, have so much to work out in yourself, that you have no time leftover to then critique someone else's life/ways. The second point about judging an escaped convict at your door is not judging, it's using common sense and avoiding an obvious danger. The way you phrased it almost sounds like it is acceptable to judge people's appearances however, which is not okay. The last point is more on point, I think God calls us to counsel at times, which is still different than surface-level judgment, but instead a deep, private intervention when and only when it is called for by God. Love your videos Alisa, keep up the good work!
