The Kick drum thing is probably to do with the General Midi Drum map vs the plugins specific one.

The whole BD note allocation gets weirder when you look at the GM Drums standard and note 35 is "Acoustic Bass Drum". Being an algorithmic model of an analog circuit that interpreted the sound of a kick drum, it could not be further away from an acoustic bass drum 😂 I've just looked at the Nithonat drum map and even that has BD on note 35. Consistency across their plugins would make sense, but iirc, there are some odd choices made between the Drumazon and Nepheton note allocations. Maybe Cubase uses note 35, and it had a larger user base than Ableton when D16 were scoping out their classic boxes series? When Ableton introduced the Drum Rack and multiples of 4x4 grids bacame a thing, the root note was naturally set to C0, to put BD, RS, SN and HC on the bottom row. Either way, they're incredible plugins! Good video!

Yeah, it's a lot of fun. You're right, I hadn't noticed the similarities between the look of this and Phoscyon 2. Were you able to get it in time?

Hands down the most frustrating confusing drum machine ever made. At least you showed me where the hidden drag midi file was. I had given up hope. Now if I could only figure out how to change the size. I can't even see the bottom 3 rows of the sequencer.

There's a button on the top left corner called Options. After pressing that, choose GUI and then Size. It will let you resize it so you can see everything.

Salut Luc, es-tu québecois? I regret not buying when intro price promo was active. I will try and wait for a sale but probably will end up buying before that. Great video.

Pas loin, je suis Franco-Ontarien. Mais j'ai beaucoup de famille au Québec (puis plusieurs originaires du Nouveau-Brunswick). They have sales pretty often so I'm sure you'll be able to find a good price soon enough. Though whatever you end up paying for it, the plugin is fantastic and I'm sure you're gonna have a lot of fun with it!

Maybe a stupid question, but if I drag the midi from DZ2 to abelton to the channel of DZ2, it doesnt play the midi. Is there a host trigger button or something I have to press? In phoscyon 2 this is a bit clearer.

If you go to the top of the plugin, there's a button between Scene and Drum Kit. It has a lock above it and "INT SEQ" written below. If you turn that off, you'll be able to play the sounds with MIDI.

Is there any way you can tell me why the individual midi notes don't make any sound once they're on a track. I can play the loop and it will make sound and I can convert it to audio, but if I tap on the individual midi note or the piano roll or try adding in a new note there is no sound. This is a complete mystery to me.

Look for the INT SEQ button at the top. If you turn that off, you can use MIDI instead of the internal sequencer. Hopefully that can help you!

I feel like they've almost offered too much with this plugin. Seems a daft thing to say. But currently I have a routine for shaping and effecting my drum sounds in Ableton. I tend to use one track per drum sound which gives me a lot of control when it comes to effects and eq of the sounds. Making use of all these new features would mean a big change to my workflow. I think at least for now I'll load one instance of the plugin and work as before. It's still an incredible product at a great upgrade price.
