holdingspace Not like they won't find it eventually themselves. Understand how group/political power works and being the grayman is easy.

I think gray man is probably the one strategy the resonates with me if SHTF. Being the unseen one is almost like a lesser magic, especially when chaos comes our way.

Con-artist schemes and scams are a good source material too. I think its much more useful to know it so you can block the behavior from being used against you, rather than perpetrating it on others.

Good video. I've been saying for a long time that "soft skills" are the most overlooked piece of self defense training. You don't want to get tunnel visioned on only one of two skills. Just like layering E&E tools throughout your edc it's important to have a wide variety of skills to use because they give you flexibility for a broader range of scenarios. I mean, an analogy from history is ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is a martial art but it's not about force on force fighting. It's about using creative tactics to help you gain an advantage in fighting situations. The shinobi integrated ninjutsu with other skills like sword fighting, archery and hand to hand fighting. You'll use soft skills infinitely more times than you will use your gun or knife.....

Shinobi HOG pretty true, I already managed to dodge a knife fight by deescalating the situation. not that I wasn't prepared for that but it was better this way

Robin Pohl yeah, I mean how many times on KZread alone have we seen firearms instructors say that the best way to win a gunfight is to avoid the gunfight? That's their standard response from the thousands of times they're asked that question. Same holds true for a knife fight and a bar fight. Ego is the cause of 90% of physical violence in our personal lives, so we need to take that out of the equation. Stop making decisions based on emotion and figure out a way to get home to your family. We need to train to meet the threat when and if it is unavoidable but more attention needs to be paid to soft skills......

Good point on how people try to manipulate other people by creating a sense of scarcity or that you owe them something . This is all part of situational awareness. Pay attention to what's going on around you AND the body language, manipulative demeanor ect of the people you meet.

If you're thinking along these lines read up on Personality Disorders, in a grid down situation it could save your life, grid up it could save you from years of misery.

Another you can use is Anchoring. When bartering with other people set an artificially low price for the object, say $5 for a $10 item. You know you won't get that, but you've anchored the other person mentally to that $5 price, so when you agree on $7, they don't think shit, he got me down from $10, instead that they raised you up from $5. Car salesmen do that to make you think you got a deal when you really didn't.

iridium77 I wondered about this too. I guess: In mass hostage situations I think the advice is to not stand out (grey man). But, if you're a sole captive then it's impossible to grey man so you go for being liked.
