old school here, Love your ride, I would so have to drop that back end 4", It would lower the center of gravity, Be a much safer ride, And it would hook better, Just saying. Narrowed rear end maybe.

The stance is perfect the way it is . My '70 set exactly like this one does , and had excellent weight transfer on launch . With that big block under the hood he's not interested in canyon carving .

@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 I get it bob, But dig.... There's a reason gassers have the front end setting so high, It gets that weight down in the back... This is all about straight line, No canyon carving. I have owned straight line cars. I have owned roundy rounds. Setting with the back end so high, You are correct, It does have an aesthetic appeal, But i'm talking about where the rubber hits the road, I'm talking about safety, I'm talking about getting hook!!! Edit: I promise you, Without going to a wind tunnel, That car is lifting at least three hundred pounds, In the back, At 120mph. This is not a good thing, With a big block.

@@bartbullock7817 way back in 1978 , I built a '70 Nova for some late night street action of the 1/4 mile type . With a big block , four speed combo feeding into a '66 Nova twelve bolt with 5.13s nobody wanted to play . The '66 rarely was two inches narrower than the 3rd generation rear , allowing me to run ten inch wide wheels with L50-15s inside of the body line . Front had 15 by 7s with L70s , all were bias plays ( remember this was in '78 ) . No inner fenders , lightened front fenders and core support etc. welded in frame ties , weight transfer was no problem . In fact , it carried the front end across an intersection it's first night out , which is why nobody would race it . But it also would hold the road rather well during evasive scenarios . With the big front tires it would handle , with frontrunners on it , she'd plow and oversteer . As a bonus I could slide under the car to uncork it without using a jack .

@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 I'm older than dirt myself, Let me tell you a story, You will have to get with the old pontiac guys for verification... It's all true. I'm talking about factory iron, Absolutely no add ons, straight from the assembly line. I talk to text so bear with me... I had a seventy t a , 455. Somebody had ordered a factory cam for it, I believe they called it a stage 2 Because of this cam, It idled incredibly rough, I'm talking bobble heads. So pontiac discontinued this grind, After only one year. Bob i'm telling you this thing was a beast, The only thing that I did to it, I would advance the timing, And of course but at least one hundred and four octane fuel in it. We discovered through trial and error, The automatic was faster than the stick, The torque was just so crazy, Getting hooked was easier with the automatic, And even with ten inch slicks, And everything hooking well, You still had to feather the throttle, Or it would just blow the tires off.... If everything was going right, You could lay into it, at around 80 mph. At just fifty.. You better have your shit together, And you better be ready to swap ends, Because if you overapply your foot, If you waited too long to get back out of it, Richard petty, Al unser, Mario andretti.. Could not save it. Bob from the factory it would turn low 10s all day long. Now here's the part where only a few can appreciate. First off.. When street racing, I could pop the hood, And all you would see is a factory piece, Factory exhaust headers, Factory factory factory.(factory) The juice.....5500 rpm redline( There was no need to go higher) The bottom end torque was insane. And i'm sure you're old enough to be aware, I have mad skills on two wheels myself, Getting any bike under eleven seconds was difficult, I'm talking about factory bikes. So if you were standing at the starting line on the street, And you're watching a race between me and oh I don't know g s eleven hundred, It would look like the race was over, At the beginning, That big block would real you in, Especially once I was allowed to lay all the way into it, It was a nasty beast, Im thankful to have walked away from it, With no dents.

@@bartbullock7817 the reason gassers had the nose up was because tyres back in the 60s and 70 sucked. No other modern drag class anywhere ever has nose up stances, and they use modern tyres. That should clue you in to something. Furthermore, if you knew anything about springs and how they load and unload, and if you watch legit modern drag cars launch, you'd see that the rear end squatting down is NOT what you want
