Two firsts, 2nd and Quinn or Peterka? lol ya right. 1st, 2nd, Skinner ($3 mill held) and Kulich should be more than enough.

I believe it has to be something close to the Eichel deal however if Ottawa were to actually trade Brady in division is would have to be even more. Also Brady is a rare player big string tough physical guy who can put up points in bunches.

Love all your choices but as you said Tampa would want a lot for Tanner Jeanott since they gave up a ton to get him. Of your three choices I think the most realistic is Sam Bennett as you said Florida will probably be looking to cut salary this summer to resign Montour & Reinhart. Question for you , if the Bennett was a no go , would you be interested in John Tavares of the leafs? He has a NMC so he would have to remove that but i think he might possibly want to play in Buffalo since he just finished playing with 3 Sabres ( Byram Power & Cozens ) at the World Championships. Yes the leafs would definitely have to eat 20% of his salary and even then the Sabres would be paying Tavares around 9 million for next season( last year of his contract) but he is very good on faceoffs and a veteran forward , two things the Sabres desperately need . Thanks for the video.

Agreed I think Sam Bennett is the most realistic if the 3. Also while Tavares is a vet who is good at faceoffs I doubt Toronto wants to eat any salary if they dump him especially to the Buffalo Sabres also doubt he removes his NMC to come to the Sabres

RE: Tavares ... I don't "know," obviously, but I don't think coming to BUFFALO would necessarily be the "big problem" (as far as HE is concerned). He's from Toronto, and playing for the Leafs has always been his dream -- that's why he went there in F.A. even though he was the Islanders' captain once upon a time. IF Toronto wants him, I'm sure he'll stay put. HOWEVER, IF Toronto is determined to make significant roster changes (including moving Tavares), as far as Tavares is concerned, coming to Buffalo could be the next bestr thing to Toronto faamily-wise and proximity-wise. Plus Lindy is a SOLID and well-RESPECTED NHL Coach. And he can always root for the Bandits ... :)

I just think they need a different type of center for their 3rd line. Which is why I love the Idea of Sam Bennett whom I would be willing to overpay a little bit to get

@@sportstalkbuffalo3775 An extreme irony to me is that the Stanley Cup winning Florida Panthers eventually maneuvered to snag three of the top 4 players chosen in the 2014 NHL Draft: with their own pick they took Aaron Ekblad #1 overall -- this was one of the recent times where the Sabres were the WORST team record/points-wise at the end of the regular season, and "should" have drafted first to get Ekblad, but we got screwed by the stupid Lottery and Florida was able to leapfrog us. At #2 overall, then-GM Tim Murray picked Sam Reinhart for the Sabres, the Oilers took Leon Draisaitl and then Calgary grabbed the other of the "two Sams" touted that year (Sam Bennett -- who was "supposed" to be slightly better than Reinhart earlier during the junior season, but Reinhart was the better choice as their early carteers played out). The Panthers traded for Bennett with Calgary, and then a couple of summers ago the Sabres shipped out malcontent Reihhart to Florida. Reinhart never warmed to Buffalo and acted as if he hated it here every time he interacted with the media. So I woiuld find it strange if 10 years after that draft the Sabres might end up with the "other Sam" (Bennett).

@wingedbuffalo4670 It wouldn't be that strange as the entire management structure is different than it was 10 years ago. Also Bennetts play style is more like a Lindy Ruffs style hard nosed difficult to play against and would he perfect for what the Sabres currently need in their bottom 6.

Is there a way to find out what cities these players have a NO TRADE CLAUSE TO? Curious how many nay have declared they don't want to go to Buffalo? I like all 3 for sure. Excellent choices if they have a desire to come to the Sabres.

That's a great question. I am honestly not sure how to find out about which teams are on a NTC. Obv. Brady who be my A #1 choice however I like the idea of Sam Bennet also.

You're insane to think Brady would want to play for Buffalo with the history he has with Tuch. Sabres need Defensive players that know how to play position hockey and not chase the puck. They have plenty of offensive weapons in their wingers, but when they get hemmed up in their zone or go on a penalty kill, they collapse.

  • @sportstalkbuffalo3775

    @sportstalkbuffalo3775

They still need a 3C and I HATE the thought on relying on ANOTHER rookie to come in and produce right away as very few can consistently. They also need another physical body who can chip in offensively on the 4th line so that Buffalo can actually role 4 effective lines also.

I said this about 2 weeks ago in my own head!!! But I would trade this years 1st Cozens and maybe 1 other pick or prospect.... but Cozens give them a second line C and on a club friendly deal for 7 years .. we would have to resign Brady sooner and he will want what 11 per? More?? And you could keep Quinn and JJ as a line combo

I would never trade Peterka. Quinn is from Ottawa. Buffalo could outbid any team for Thachuk. 2 first R 6:23 D picks and many prospects

Trading either Peterka or Quinn would be difficult as o believe both will be very good top 6 players but Tkachuk is a different animal. Also I agree that Buffalo could likely outbid most teams but 1. Would they want to sell the farm for Tkachuk and 2. Would Ottawa want to do a trade with a divisional foe are the big things.

This would be steep because I believe Power will likely be a very good 2 way Dman. However, Brady Tkachuk is a potential game changer for this Sabres team so it would be tough to say no

11th OA pick for Sam Bennett a career 40 point, 3rd line player? No thanks. If Florida is up against the cap, they would be willing to take less to move him. A 2nd Rnd, a 3rd Rnd, and Brandon Biro.

I am not sure that gets the deal done as he is slotted in as Florida's 2nd lone center between Tkachuk and Verhaeghe. You get an immediate impact 3rd line center potentially giving you 3 quality lines heading into next season. Maybe a the 1st and a lesser prospect to get the deal done. 🤔

The “Sabred” Sabres 😂 will most likely not trade #11 for anyone noteworthy. I don’t believe Adams is capable of making a great trade for any existing good NHL players. Maybe Lindy coming back might help the Sabres credibility. Still, too many good players have non-trade clauses. It will be interesting on draft day.
