Around 2-1/4 hours into this production, you speak of the US lacking the ability to rapidly deploy large numbers of troops and equipment, and you're obviously missing the simple fact that for many decades, America's Guard of Honor, The All American 82nd Airborne Division, (The world's largest Rapid Deployment Force) is capable at any time, 24/7/365, to deploy an entire brigade of well over 6,000 Paratroopers plus all of their needed equipment, supplies, vehicles, and ammunition, well within 18 hours to anyplace on the Planet. I know this for a fact, being a Veteran 🇺🇸🫡🇺🇸 of that elite Division. Get your facts straight 😂

I was on a submarine for a little while as a midshipman. Submariners are by far the most intelligent people on the planet. Given there is no way to reach outside support underwater, submariners have to know how to repair everything from plumbing, electrical, water, oxygen production, and even nuclear reactors. All this, on top of managing op tempo for months at a time on top secret missions. Much respect.

Been there Done that. I did 6 years on two boomers, I did this in the 70's. When you go through the job training ( about 1 year in my case) they make sure you can handle serving on a boat. Once you get the boat you go through qualification and are still tested to see if you can handle it. (That also take about a year). Once you get your dolphins (Submarine Warfare Badge) you have proven yourself.

Submarines are the apex predators of the ocean. You must be able to understand all types of engineering disciplines to be a submariner. Be able to memorize everything on board, and how to operate the most critical parts. Be mentally prepared for every possible problem and you must be able to be calm in the face of certain death. If you want to be tested and ready to learn about everything then you might be good enough to be one of us.

Submarines are mentally tough being a combat. Veteran is physically tough. Pick your poison, I would argue as a submarine vet our job is one of the toughest mentally… You never get a break and you work the longest hours … I laugh when people talk about being awake for only 24 hours try 2 to 3 days constantly being awake… Being awake for 2 to 3 days straight was very common because you’re too busy trying to learn the submarine, and if you don’t abide by this, you will be hazed … I don’t know how it is anymore now because they let females on board but back when I was in it was very tough .

I'm a 27 year Navy veteran and I had no interest in being a submariner. The ships and Carriers (Nimitz, Ronald Reagan) were my "cup of tea" loved the Nimitz my first assignment on the Nimitz was amazing the Ship had been commissioned only one year prior so she was new but had two 6 month runs/ "Shake downs" so the Nimitz was cruising along like the finest "Rolls Royce" I was fortunate and blessed to serve on her.

During 1930s USN doctrine for submarines was to keep out of trouble. Even using the periscope to simulate torpedoes was considered too risky. The institutionalised over caution was eventually pushed aside but not before the utterly awful Mk14 torpedo had let targets go free while putting Americans at great risk for little gain.

That's interesting, I wasn't aware that the MK14's were such failures and it makes one wonder how many Navy Sailors like my Grandfather were put at such risk, back then the "Submarines" were great big coffins (per my Grandfather) but him and allot of others survived and did it all over again the next day, Men were Men that's for sure 😇🤕

Guys. the phrase is "... cannot be OVERSTATED". As in, the object in question is so significant, important, or extraordinary that, no matter how much you emphasize it's significance and/or to what degree you express it's level of importance, you will not able to do so in a way it's expressed significance could surpass it's actual significance. I swear this is like the 5th time I've heard you guys say that something "... cannot be understated." I think you guys believe what you're saying means something along the lines of "it's so good that even if you're a hater you'd be forced to admit that it's pretty good. " But it's always going to be confusing and make you sound like Ricky from Trailer Park Boys when you try to use youre own custom version of a common and widely-used expression in a manner which makes it seem like you just aren't aware of what the actual expression is and don't realize you're saying the opposite of what you think you are. idk why this got me so heated
