    I'm a student teacher and just tried Circle Counting with my second graders yesterday. It was a hit! Not only did it break up the hour long math time but it got the kids working together for success. I'm really appreciating your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.

    I had never thought enough about focusing on the answer too much. I like the idea building more number sense through examples and non-examples, thinking aloud, modeling, fix-it problems, ect. Great tips!

    I ask my students to draw a picture, write a number sentence, and tell the answer to the word problem. I also ask students to agree and disagree about answers. I like having students tell how the partner solved the problem. Sharing at the end of the math lesson to show what they did.

    There is nothing in the CRA method that says you should delay any step - including the algorithm. That is a myth.
