There are two bands that always made me feel happy whatever the subject matter of their songs. Supertramp and ELO. Somehow they both always lift my mood.

The progression of popular music.... The Beatles, E.L.O and Supertramp....
Roger is the heart and soul of Supertramp
Seeing Roger ... on my bucket list. Another great song from Roger is FOOL'S OVERTURE ... Live with full orchestra.

@@marylreddick Ageed! The only thing better might've been the whole band, but Hodgson sure put on a GREAT show for everyone.
SHOUT out to the bassist and drummer. They kept that pocket ice cold.
Throw a stick at "Crime of the Century" and you'll find a great track, but my favourite is 'School'. Studio track preferred.
I graduated from Highschool in 1979. This album always brings good memories!! 😃
I was at the concert of Roger with this band in Munich 2018. It was amazing.
Rodger and Rick split the writing and generally took the lead on their own songs providing back up musically and vocally on each others songs. This is a really great studio song as well

I love how they would sort of talk back and forth to each other (well, singing, but it's like a conversation). This song, School, Just a Normal Day, etc.
I think you should listen to the studio version. When you do, you will understand why!

If Jazz and Rock had a baby.....this would be it. The studio version has a much longer keyboard solo and much more pronounced with a hint of Sax at the end.
Supertramp had many hits. Love them.
Super
This is one of my favorites. The bass player is David J. Carpenter and is not Rogers son. His son plays piano and drums and performed with Roger for a bit when he was 16. Roger effortlessly weaves the music around his audience giving an almost cathartic emotional release in some cases. His instantly recognizable voice and pulsating keys are in as fine a form as you will hear, and the genuine friendliness and personality of Hodgson, comes across in waves from stage to audience.
FOOL'S OVERTURE IS EPIC SAL!
I just listened to a Supertramp album yesterday...love them!!
One of the best outros ever.
You should watch the 1979 live version when the band was still together.

That would be 'Paris'. Definitely worth seeing, if only that it gets the closest I'll ever be to seeing the actual band together and live.
This is a good version but lacks Helliwell's killer sax solo.
Incredible !
I've never met anyone who didn't like Supertramp; they're very underrated!

Lmao!! True true
This is an awesome song
Any of their live performances 1979 in Paris are amazing!!!
Saw them in Montréal 1979
Saw him about 3 years ago. Great show! They had multiple instruments including woodwinds, so their sound can vary song to song , just like Super Tramp did.
You said that you'd like to talk with Roger. Agreed, But first I'd like to go for a chat with Ian Anderson.
I have seen that performed a couple of times. 😂 Fantastic performance . Incredible musicians .Two that are Canadians 🇨🇦 . None are related to Roger . A tune that’s impossible to turn off or the volume down .!!😮😮😅
Evening Young Sir... For your continuing Supertramp journey: Give a Little Bit, Even in the Quietest Moments, Fools Overture. (You'll hate these ones too, ha ha.) OH, Oh... don't forget Steppenwolf: Magic Carpet Ride. Another product of the Great White North.
Simply Greatness from the Great Supertramp 💫❤️☝️
thanks for the post / groovy stuff
The studio version of Child of Vision is the best.
I hope you hit their early offerings in the Crisis? What Crisis? album. As a Supertramp fan for over 4 decades, that album is by far my favourite.
Fab Supertramp

Always up for some SuperTramp in whatever form. It is so inventive and positive with a jazzy feel. Like Genesis, they are keyboard-heavy vs guitar heavy with great harmonies and interesting chords. Distinctive sound. All the instruments fit together so seamlessly. Great musicians. AND their music IS fun! Groovy FIRE! Much like Roger with SuperTramp, Steve Hackett is playing a lot of Genesis with his band to keep the music alive. Something to keep in mind going forward. (although Genesis has a much larger catalog from which to choose).
In the studio version, I count at least 4, but perhaps 5: 1. Electric Piano 2. Grand Piano 3. Solara Strings synth (some think this sound is 70's cheesy, but in my rig, it's ALWAYS available) 4. Moog for buzzy bass sound and possibly 'flute' after minor intro and before you first hear the change into verse Seeing Roger live, it was amazing - EVERYTHING was represented. Keys, guitar, bass, synths, even sax.
“Paris Live”
Never the same after he left. After you were impressed with 'School' I tried to see you react to 'Rudy', couldn't find it. For me it's their best track on their best album (Crime). Don't miss out!
Take The Long Way Home (Studio version) is a classic, check it out.
One of my favorites for sure !!! That intro is out of this world ! 🤯
Check out Supertramp live in Paris for full band at their peak
Great reaction! Supertramp is one of my favourite bands of all time. Please react to Lord is it Mine. It’s my favourite Supertramp song of all time. 🙌🏼
I always loved the fact that Supertramp used multiple keyboards. A totally different sound to nearly any other band. The first albums I bought were Crime of the Century (and Dark Side of the Moon).
Saw Roger and the guys twice in 2015 he's a must see, not his son that is Aaron Macdonald.. thanks for reacting to Roger he has some great videos have to see "School" from 2014 in San Paulo, have to.
I prefer Roger's songs so enjoyed this. Thanks, Salvo!
More Supertramp! There's not a lot of live Supertramp videos because they were most popular before music videos were really a thing. Roger is ok, but I would say listen to the actual band instead. I know you have done a couple of their songs, so I would recommend listening to Rudy, Even in the Quietest Moments, Fool's Overture, and Goodbye Stranger.
It's groove music, my friend. It just catches a groove and follows it while Roger sings like a bird flying over the groovin' flow. It has something in common with some types of jazz music that does the same thing...the band catches a groove and the individual musicians take turns stepping out with variations on it.
ROGER c'est SUPERTRAMP , son génie......magnifique......
Check out his song Had a Dream😎
Give a Little Bit, Babaji, Even In the Quietest Moments, From Now On, Fool’s Overture, Breakfast In America, Goodbye Stranger, Take the Long Way Home, Dreamer (live 1979 Paris), Lord Is It Mine, Dreamer, It’s Raining Again.
I have seen him play this song so many times at his solo concerts over the years...For many years back around 200ots to 20teens, I would see him whenever he came to Wild Horse Casino in Chandler, AZ.
You should review Fool's Overture ! Fantastic !
Roger is great live, but my personal preference is to see the original band before Roger left. Anything from the Paris ‘79 DVD will repay your time watching.
Non é raro nelle grandi bands vedere piu musicisti suonare insieme lo stesso strumento. In questo caso le tastiere 🎹🎹🎹 Se guardi il live PULSE dei Pink Floyd vedrai due tastieristi all'opera. Richard Wright membro originario fin dall'inizio e Jon Carin tastiere addizionali
(The Universal) by English band “Blur” is a great song.
live in Paris version is far better for a true vision of Supertramp band. Rick Davie piano ( not this guy)

I attended a Roger concert and thoroughly enjoyed all the songs except Child of Vision. The piano solo is okay, but it's light years away from Rick Davies's playing. You only need to watch paris 79 concert.

YES !! The Rick Davies piano solo is mind blowing!
Art Rock: ST, Moody Blues, Floyd...
Did you notice the electric guitar? 😂 I'm messing! So the keyboards, bass and drums.... Not many hard rock bands can pull that off.
This is not the og band good performance tho there is a performance from paris that is awesome from back in the day.
How about 'upbeat fun'?
This PALES in comparison to the studio version. While it’s fun to see a live performance, it certainly does not do justice to the original. These guys are good but it’s not Rick on the piano. And the way they ended this was abhorrent. Horrible. Listen to the studio version and you’ll see.
Good , but the original version with the original band (Supertramp) is better. Yes, this song was written by Hodgson but the long piano solo belongs to Davies , he wrote it and this guy only a weaker copy of Davies , plus nobody can replace John on sax (plus Dougie , Bob).
Check out Scritti Politti
This isn't even Supertramp, but a Roger trollip through pastel clouds and sugar drops. Bye.
Major difference between Roger and Supertramp is the substitution of extra piano for the original saxophone of the band. Not quite as good.

@@josephcarino5829But the piano solo belongs to Davies , he wrote it plus sax solo by Helliwell. The original is better.
Roger wrote this song with his relationship with Davies in mind. To me there is a mystical aspect to the song with incredible Master Piano that Rick Davies plays particularly in the studio version which is never repeated. The long piano piece is a masterpiece by Rick Davies. The recording in Paris live is great too. Of course, this is not the original band and Davies is not in this show. With multiple health issues Davies had to stop touring. But, also it seems that Roger found Rick difficult to get along. He felt that Rick did not value his work in the band as he should have. Nevertheless, the two genius musicians made a number of legendary songs.
