Recommend instead of reinforcing the plastic weld seam with nails, instead to embed used staples. They are smaller and fit within the plastic more easily but also the bent loop on both ends of the used staple holds well inside the plastic.

Embedding the staples was a cool idea. Using a nonessential piece of the parent material is key to success. A heat gun can work if you find rge correct mix of heating your additive material and the repair

You must use the SAME KIND OF PLASTIC, or it will NOT hold. eg: bumper covers... Polypropylene and a wire screen with heat to fix cracks etc. .. you cannot use zip ties, they're the wrong kind of plastic

Stimmt.

Except for the dangerous fumes and the fact that most plastics will lose their initial properties and become brittle. Just look for a compatibilidade glue or epoxy glue you can add a metal or fibre glass mesh behind and it will actually fix the broken plastic

he can work over the fan to reduce the fumes. Also he can also use steel wool to add strength to the bond rather then staples.

This works well. If you heat it just enough to melt but not enough to smoke the plastic will remain flexible and strong.

be sure to do this work outside with fan blowing fumes away. i personally knew a well recognized artist that worked using a torch to heat plastic buckets into sculptures. he developed a very rare lung cancer that killed him and was attributed to inhaled plastic fumes.
