Awesome tour by Paul of his Cloudwater Brewery, succinct explanation of the process with no cliche`s from someone who`s passionate about brewing. Well done Simon on your imformative 3-hour tour!

I enjoy these tours. Thanks Simon.
Really enjoyed this Simon 👍Probably the best "out and about" to date. Gave yourself plenty of time and Rob had the route knowledge which really helped. Cracking content.
This is ABSOLUTELY fantastic! Thanks Si. What an amazing watch. Just literally off the plane from a week in Spain and just opened a beer and got this on. Amazing mate. Always a loyal member to this channel. God to see Rob as well.
As a mancunian your chose of pubs were bang on...glad to see u drinking 2 milds. One of ya best vids yet simon👏👍

A couple on there I've never been to, though I knew of them, the Turks Head and Wellington and must remember to visit them next time I'm in Manchester. Never been to the Shakespeare either, but there can't be a pub that promises so much from the outside that delivers so little on the inside, so won't be going there. This video and some of the things said, got me thinking of some of the pubs that existed when I first visited in 1997, just before it started to change, and that have now closed. In 1997 that area around the Angel was built up, with terraced streets, and remember going to a pub called the Pot of Beer, alas no more. Simon I'm sure would've loved the Jolly Anglers, RIP. The Northern Quarter back then was like the Bronx, mean and moody, the Smithfield Tavern was always popular, a place where contractors would stay, I stayed there once, excellent accommodation for the price. Lots of places like Bar Fringe nowadays, but back then it was a trailblazer, foreign beers a rarity in those days.

@ronniechambers2555 spot on about the Shakespeare, it's awful inside..northern quarter/Ancoats was on its knees in the 80's. So many pubs gone in that area. Pot of Beer was called the Harp n Shamrock those day due to the Irish connections around there. Building still stands. Defo go to the Turks Head Ronnie ( hare n hounds next door also super)..some good shouts there mate!🍺👍

Watching this in chunks. Such a good video. Thanks to you and Hopzine for being such a gent. Confirming for me that Manchester is the best beer city in the UK.

A couple of BeerTuber legends! This was great fun to watch. Took me back to when I was visiting you & hanging out with Rob in London years ago! It would be awesome to hang out again! You guys should think about coming to our beer festival in August!😉

Paul is a lovely chap and has so much knowledge. Even before we started filming one of the brewers who was on the canning machine made sure we had cold cans in our hands before Simon hit record.
Very Interesting ! And it was nice to see simon walking and getting some exercise. 🍺
Excellent cloudwater tour and very interesting video throughout…great to see you come up north and visit my home city 👍🍺😀
Well done, Si. This was great
What a brilliant watch that was. I live in Manchester and have never visited quite a few of these so definitely on my list now

One of these days I’m going to travel to your beautiful country and have a few pints at a real British pub. I’m lucky in that there is an excellent craft beer scene relatively close to me, but I want to experience it there.
Rob is such a top bloke! Great seeing you two out on the beers! Best video you've made to date Si, i'd pin this as your featured video for the channel!!!
Came looking for Marble Arch, was not disappointed. My favourite pub in the world, lived across the road for several years, an absolute treat being able to call that my local. Wish they still did chocolate marble! There’s also the Angel back up the road on the corner, cracking pub.
Love Manchester 🐝
Nice one mate. The cloudwater tour was fascinating, very educational.
Some marvellous pubs you visited in Manchester! I've been to a handful of them and had a great time.

10 minutes in and I'm hooked! Great knowledge shared as well
Just finally finished this (work truly is the curse of the drinking classes) and just brilliant. Used to live in Manchester area and know most of the old places well, but great reminder of their histories. More like this please Simon - much as I love your beer reviews I think there's a market for tours of towns/cities and chats with breweries - maybe smaller towns to a) keep the length of the video down and b) stop you getting wobbly gob 🙂
Looks like you guys had a great day 🍻
Great video! Enjoyed following along, great tour and hospitality by Paul
Flew into Manchester and made sure i had a few hours before train back to Scotland.. Sureshot ..Cloudwater and Track brewery taprooms really close to each othet. Heaven !! ❤
Absolutely loved this video, my favourite of yours, maybe bias from it being my hometown and also my favourite place to drink however I learnt loads about the history of the manchester beer scene and some of its architecture and old pubs. Wow, the most beer I have seen Simon drink on an out and about video ! 😳😂
One of the most interesting and historic pubs is the Peveril of the Peak. 1820. This pub was used as a brothel by US Gi's in WW2! This pub is on Camra's national historic inventories and is protected.

I tried to keep it sensible abv but a few bigger ones crept in. About 8-9 pints in total I think. A long day but a good one.
Great work mate, nice vid. Keen to see more!!
The Pev, favourite boozer in my home city, was in there a few weeks ago on a rare visit back to Manc
Really enjoyed that, 3 hours of Manchester, my favourite city, though don't like the way its being Londonised. I did my first pub crawl there in 1997, just before it started to change ( for the worse IMO ). This video has reminded me though, that it still has a lot to offer in the traditional sense, and restored what was on the wane, that is my love for Manchester, its industrial history, culture and its pubs, a place you could easily spend a week, visiting 7 or 8 good pubs/bars and taprooms a day.
Great stuff Si!
Really enjoyed your video. Currently sat in the Turks enjoying a pint of Holts. Not been in for years but your video inspired me to get out.
@HopZine

I've walked past it so many times but have never gone in. It was a lovely pub and the mild was bang on.
Crackin tactic you've adopted there Si. Walk into pubs, get the round order in then ask if its ok if you take a look around the pub to film, while poor old Rob is left at the bar to foot the bill! 😁 Great video Si. 👍
Started on holts bitter at 15, had 1 pint wobbled home, you'll never have constipation drinking that
Fantastic Si!!!
Bloody hell. Im away for 5 minutes and I miss the best pub crawl this side of Yorvik. 😂 I'd like to have bought a few rounds... its my back yard
3:35 After The Mill Bar & Kitchen, I'm surprised that you didn't walk out of the front doors (which HopZine's Rob Derbyshire initially pointed to) and visit the Piccadilly Tap, a Bloomsbury Leisure venue.
We used to have a lot of brewers in Manchester, holts, Wilsons, Boddingtons and lots more, not many left now

We did go, it was supposed to be open but the door was locked. We could see through the window the back door was open?
Strongly recommend Derby, Sheffield and Huddersfield for having a lot of good pubs, though i'm slightly biased as I visit all 3 regularly...
@HopZine
Ай бұрын
Sheffield is high up on our list. Never been to Derby, but I love Nottingham. I used to go to Huddersfield lots, it not what it used to be. We did some filming there years ago when Magic Rock first opened. I think we filmed in The Rat and Ratchet, The Grove and The Sportsman too.
@Tom_-

Derby has amazing pubs, Sheffield has some of the absolute best breweries (St Mars is probably my favourite in the country, and Triple Point is great too) but I've never been to Huddersfield so will add that to my map!
If you get the opportunity, get a tram from Manchester into Eccles and go to my favourite pub in the area. The Lamb Hotel
I was nearly going to Manchester last Saturday too. Never mind. Maybe next time
What a treat! :)
Lees also makes the Moonraker strong ale which is pretty good. Manchester Star was nice too but I'm not sure whether that's still brewed.
Awesome pub crawl along the lines of my own with my mate when in Newcastle quayside. Definitely want to hit the tap rooms highlighted here. Cheers to Simon and your cohort in Manchester.

I'd love to drag Simon up to Newcastle, one of my favourite beer cities.
Simon. The 'MB' above the door at the Turks Head stands for 'Manchester Brewery Co' 1800's. It became a Wilsons pub in the 1970's. Wilsons was merged with Websters in Yorkshire. Watneys aquired them both and closed them. 1986. How's that?
I fucking love this , reminds me after a good clubbing night with a good kebab.
What a ride!
Black Jack brewery is at the bottom of the hill at the side of The Marble Arch where you visited. Has it's own bar in there too and the owner is a really nice bloke. Absolutely great video of my home town boozers and you did well to be still standing at the end of it!
@HopZine
Ай бұрын
I went to the taproom once, is it still open? Not far from Marble Arch if I remember. The range on at their pub was sizeable. I struggled to pick what to have.
You hit most of the best boozers in town! Ones for next time: Crown and Kettle Port Street Beer House Oh and the beer garden/yard at the Castle was literally through the backdoor you walked up to and turned back!
@HopZine
Ай бұрын
We did walk in the Crown and Kettle but the music was really loud and there was nothing on we wanted to drink. Port Street as important as it is to the Craft beer scene it just didn't fit in to our route.

Simon claims this is "work". Day one. It was pretty easy but day two we covered a hell of a lot of ground. Over 7K of walking 17 pubs and trying my best to pace things so we weren't too hammered by the end. One thing I did faip on was food. Hence the emergency pickled egg. Hope you enjoyed it. More visits to come.
