​​@@redacted2275 Nonsense, Yoda was capable of outwitting anyone up until his death. He was testing Luke from the very moment he appeared. Now that I think of it, Yoda was probably waiting for Luke as Obi Wan likely made contact with Yoda as he did with Luke on Hoth.

Yoda does talk normally quite a few times. It’s just he usually talks in reverse to ensure people pay attention.

The way of the Force.” Yoda doesn’t just “talk backwards”. He speaks with Shakespearean cadence. Read any Shakespeare play. Characters in them talk like Yoda all the time. When the guy that wrote William Shakespeare’s Empire Strikes Back, he had trouble writing Yoda because Yoda’s dialogue in the movies is already Shakespearean, so he added the gimmick of having Yoda speak entirely in haiku to distinguish his style of dialogue from all the other characters.

Exactly, I felt what made his talking so impactful in the empire strikes back was he really only taked backwards every other time, not all the time like in the Clone Wars cartoon. Sometimes, this makes him sound goofy.

Makes perfect sense Yoda would talk normally in the midst of battle. If you're commanding an army you want to be understood, you don't want to confuse your soldiers. If they have to even waste a split second to process what he said, it would cost lives.

It wasn’t the first time. In Empire Strikes Back, when Luke first met Yoda, Yoda said: I am wondering, why are you here? And not: wondering I am, here why are you?

Yoda’s dialogue isn’t a mistake. There are lines in the OT that aren’t jumbled either. Also the scene where the gunship arrive at the arena, it’s again not the same sentence structure

I never understood this. I always thought the reverse speech was when he was acting like a crazy old creature. But when he reveals he is Jedi Master Yoda his posture changes he can reveal his true self and he speaks normally. The whole, it's just the way he talks thing is stupid

Yoda probably talks normally MORE than he uses his iconic reverse syntax in Empire if you go back and watch. Otherwise you'd have: Train him I cannot. Too young he is. What he begins, finish will he? Do not, or do. Try there is not. No. Another there is.

Yoda can talk normally, as seen in Empire strikes back. He really only speaks backwards whenever he is trying to teach or emphasize a point.

....that wasn't an error, Yoda talks that way by choice.

In an earlier scene, we see Ki adi and a couple of other jedi being placed in the circle of other jedi/Padme without a lightsaber. My guess is he picked up one of the 100+ fallen lightsabers and it was green

I would guess that when giving urgent military orders, Yoda would speak in the syntax of the soldiers.

Yoda chooses to talk backwards

Yoda can talk normally. We see it in his first appearance. He was faking the backward talk before he reveals himself to Luke. Then it’s all normal. Everyone just likes his quirk of talking backwards. But it wouldn’t make sense to learn speech that way. Even Yaddle talks normal. Grogu will probably talk normal too. Yoda talks backwards-like so that people will pay attention to his wisdom. It helps people to really dig into what he is saying. In a Warzone like this war’s beginning Yoda is out of his peacekeeper element as there hasn’t been a full scale war in 1000 years and Yoda is around 900. Yoda talks normal to command quickly to the commander because nobody has time for backward confusion.

It makes sense Yoda would try to say grammatically correct English sentences for military commands to make sure there’s minimal confusion or delay.

Still waiting for 3 hilarious errors....I only see 3 lame gotchas.

Yoda does not always speak backwards. His most famous quote "Do or do not, there is no try" is said regularly.

Reason Ki-Andi-Mundi got another lightsaber is because he was one of those Jedi that got captured in Arena, there’s a deleted scene that didn’t make into the movie, what originally happened was that Ki-Andi and other Jedis masters attacked the Droids inside one of the Trade Federations Lucrehulk, his goal was to go to the control center of the ship and turn off the droids like what they did in Episode 1 on Naboo but it this time it fail, cuz droids are manufactured independent now and that’s they got overpowered by droids like super battle droids and that’s why we see Ki-Andi-Mundi and other Jedis in arena as captured prisoner when Dooku wanted to negotiate with Windu

Like why couldn’t they say he had tow lightsabers or picked up someone else’s lightsaber. Or he carried a back up saber of the same design, that would make more sense to me

Hot take: I actually like that. Or when they keep in goofy things just because it's goofy, like the famous Stormtrooper bumping his head on the door.

Yoda is totally fine for me. You can gear him struggling, trying to speak loud and clear and with proper grammar so the clones know exactly what to do.

Yoda slipped up because hes very stressed out. He talks like that on purpose

Also, all audio recorded during the film was actually recorded afterwards. The cameras they used during production didn’t have the ability to record audio, so they had to record it afterwards and overlay it in post production. If you ever thought the film looked weird when people would talk, well now you know why.

Also it was a chaotic battle with dozens of Jedi in a gladitorial pit, he could've just picked up the nearest lightsaber he found, maybe from a fallen jedi.

I think it’s canon that yoda talks funny so people pause to think about his words, it makes sense he’d talk like that in the heat of battle

He also says (to obiwan's force ghost) in normal speech pattern: "I cannot teach him! The boy has no patience". and "His too old to begin the training!" But then mixes that up with "Ready, are you? My own counsel I will keep on who is to be trained!"

When you pay attention to Yodah’s speech he never really speaks backwards it just sounds like it but when you read it out it still works as a regular sentence

Well, Robot Chicken had a skit where a Clone Trooper lectures Yoda on the need for precise communication in battle. Maybe it kicked in...

If you look closely the hilts of Mundi's saber's are different plus he's holding his hands together with no light saber in his possession when he gets brought back to the remaining group of Jedi.

Yoda frequently speaks the correct way, he does both seemingly at random. first example I thought of "He is too old. Yes. Too old to begin the training." From Empire. If he only spoke backwards it would be "too old, he is."

I think it was implied or explained the reason that Yoda speaks in riddles (sic Luke Skywalker) is because he sort of got bored with speaking so straight forward so he likes to keep his listeners on their toes so to speak with his weird speaking. I think he also spoke normally in Revenge of the Sith where he says “I mean you no harm!” Because at that point he was trying to calm the guy holding a blaster at him

Just remembered that Padme’s white uniform was similar to Colonel Wilma Dering’s Earth Defense Directorate uniform in Season 1 of Buck Rogers.

At least ki adi Mundii is actially alive in the right time period 😂

I thought Mundi had a different lightsaber in that shot because he was brought down from the stands with a few others. It would make sense his lightsaber was taken and he just grabbed one from a fallen jedi when the fighting ramped up again.

There’s some normal lines of Yoda in ESB. Granted, they’re shorter. “I cannot teach him. The boy has no patience.” Not “Teach him I cannot. No patience the boy has.” When he says says commands in other times he just sounds normal. “Well done commander, bring me a ship!”

To be fair, in Empire Strikes Back yoda talks normal after when he’s speaking to obi wan.

Yoda speaks normally more than 50% of the time in the OT and a little less in the PT. This isn't a mistake, it's you misremembering the character. A fake beard no matter how noticeable isn't a mistake, it's just a bad fake beard. The green lightsaber for Ki Adi Mundi is the only actual mistake in this video.

Also Mundi was famous for sayin 'surely we cant beat them, not only do they have the power of 1, the power of 2 but the power of MANNNNYYY'

Yoda actually talks weird to emulate his late master whose speech was articulated like that. I think he’s speaking normally to the emphasize the seriousness of the situation and to not confuse the clones.

Yoda spoke in a standard manner in the OT as well. Speaking in invested sentence structure is just his way of emphasizing the importance of his words of wisdom, or as part of his playful old hermit persona. It was the PT that made him sound like an idiot by inverting almost every line he spoke, no matter what it was.

Yoda is straining to speak not only normally, but also louder because he knows he needs to be clearly understood in battle to avoid confusion

Yoda has always been able to talk normally... The idea that his species is *required* to speak in this way is really just a misconception... It's their natural style of speaking, and it's traditional among them... But it's not hard-wired into them

This is a massive misconception that Yoda speaks backwards all the time. He rarely spoke this way in the Original trilogy, yet they leaned on it heavily during the Prequels.

Speaking of accidental lightsabers colors switching, Agen kolar has a green lightsaber in the arena while having a blue lightsaber in revenge of the sith

Yoda didn't always speak that way. There are a couple of lines in TESB, ROTJ, and TPM in which the syntax seems 'normal'. So, it's not an error. Mundi was not the only one who picked up or was given a different saber.

All these comments defending that it’s actually canon proves that they’ll accept only things they want to. When Disney makes mistakes (albeit they made a LOT of mistakes), Star Wars “fans” eat them alive. But when Lucas does literally the same thing they’re like “let me explain why it’s canon”
