Aaaaaaand now I fundamentally understand how the Remove tool works! I swear, these software companies should be paying you for this kind of training material. It's so much clearer than even their own documentation. "Great at creating lines and joining things. You can also use this technique to extend a line" is so much better than "Uses intelligent technology to remove unwanted objects when a user brushes over them and automatically fills in the background while preserving the integrity of objects and depth in complex and varied backgrounds".

Just pulled off the injured reserve list and added to my tool bar: Remove Tool! Thank you, sir!

Generative fill does a very good job too while removing reflections in glass elements, leaving all those objects that are behind the glass. This is useful when I need to remove my reflection or my camera for example in glass furniture in real estate photography!

the content filters on generative fill are way way way too touchy - more often than not, if you're selecting a small area and just clicking generate without using a prompt - and you really don't want to ahve to use a prompt - you'll get a nastygram that you've violated adobes community guidelines

Thanks for the great tip. The remove tool worked superbly on a portrait edit in which I replaced the background. It easily removed the halo around the shoulders, albeit with a slight removal of the jacket.

After watching your first video on the remove tool I used it to completely rebuild a leaf that bugs ate half of. I wanted the leave and didn’t want it removed. Now I could simply generative fill the leaf but I like using my own pixels

just yesterday morning had used it correct the wheel of giant tipper which was damaged beyond repair. then used it to remove some unwanted poles from older pics. THEN, this video showed up. was wondering the same if others used it as intended. it is better than spot healing tool.

for that shadow could you upscale the generated fill layer with eg. gigapixel ai somehow? easily?

Haha.. i can't look at people working in Photoshop and their layers setting is set to "Entire Document" settings! First thing i change when installing or using someones computer is change the Layer Panel to "Layer Bounds". Anyway cool video :)

You seem to be using Windows (11?) too. I've been hesitant to update to rel. 24.5. Have read about various tools, actions, etc. not working right & a fair number of users losing Prefs & Presets. I was really interested to try the Remove Tool but don't want to risk those other issues (+ one time I rolled back I lost skies, etc...). Did you have any update issues like I mentioned migrating to 24.5? Thx

Sadly, my refurbished 2014 iMac is too old to update to the latest macOS, which is what Photoshop requires for the Remove Tool to work...but, thankfully, Generative Fill works just fine. It's a pity, Remove Tool looks incredibly useful.

I figured these out myself. I am using the beta version and if you know what you are doing then these are two very strong tools.

It certainly is not consistent repairing lines here, it often removes more then connect lines with holes in them, or add lines where u dont want them and itll be persistent tryign to add to it even after several attempts. Maybe its becausde I use it on graphical content and linework rather then real photo's?
