I became interested in GIMP about 3 weeks ago when it became necessary that I learn about image editing for a web programming project. Searching and watching many GIMP YT videos was good and instructive, however I have found your video the best one BY FAR over the others. Thank you.

I think they may have added the layer effects into the latest updated version. Mine does have drop shadow, bevel, artistic etc. in the Filters Tab at the top, located in between Tools & Windows tabs.

My download was 2.10.34? It didn't let me customize during set-up? Is that a big deal? I look forward to your training!

Hi, I just downloaded the newest version but it appears slightly different from the original 2.10... for example, the script-fu heading has been eliminated from the top...And, the layers download is no longer available. Thus, I'm a little confused. Your teaching style appears amazing however...Thanks!

I tried searching for the free plugin, but that URL now has a 404 not found message. I found it elsewhere but they only had the python version, and I couldn't figure out how to install it.

Following lesson but gimp does NOT operate per your instructions. For example only 16 tools appear and windows do not dock as shown on video?

where are the resources?

This is getting ridiculous. I have been through the video twice to set up both my devices. Now I want to change the position of my docks. I looked for a short video but they are all about moving dialogs. I couldn't even find the info in the GIMP documentation. So here I am again.

I didn't like the advanced project because I have no need of creating a flyer and I would prefer to know what functions you are trying to teach rather than the end product that you want. I also didn't download your files because the link wasn't obvious in your comments. At the "banner" point I went to another video tutorial to create it. I had already merged my layers. You say I am going to learn some new things but not what they are. After creating the curvy shape your image shows a dotted line but mine is solid. I am still able to move my anchor point but using fill with foreground, which is white, nothing happens. I still just have an empty shape. Changing the fill color to black resulted in the page being turned black rather than the banner. If I hit the move tool my shape vanishes. I've slowed down the video to .75 and repeated 3 times. I'm Missing something. I also don't see the point of having created a new layer after the shape. What is the new layer for? If I switch to the fill tool my selection vanishes. I finally discovered 2 issues. I had not hit "enter" after finishing my selection although I am not sure that was an issue. I had a background white layer visible so when I filled with the foreground color it was white on white. I finally got everything working. The change mode to multipy is confusing. I can see the result, the way the layers behave differently. Other videos don't make it clearer. Why am I using this method instead of using regular layers? Why doesn't the photo cover the entire surface when it is the top most layer?

Apparently they took down registry can find stuff on github however

Think of layers like the invisible man. Each layer is transparent except for what you put on it.

getting a 404 error for the layer effects! sad face.
